I really do like  1 Oak, although it does help to know people. The music is great...a mix of hip hop and house. The crowd isn't the best, but the music and dancing beats that out. Fun for a girls night out, especially since they're so selective with letting guys in. Only downside is that drinks are $18 each, even for a simple vodka soda! Again, it helps to know people here.

My boyfriend's parents were in town and wanted to do brunch - on a Saturday. We didn't have many ideas about where to go, but he found South City Kitchen online and made the reservation. This was going to be our first visit to the restaurant and I remember being worried that if it was terrible, that's all his folks would remember about the last time they visited him! There was no need to worry. Hostess was very friendly, greeting us with a smile and quickly seating us with our partially arrived party. Our server Nadia was prompt, professional and knowledgeable. We didn't have to ask for anything other than the food we ordered! The Southern-Style Eggs Benedict was fantastic and my favourite thing we ordered. The Chicken & Biscuits with collards and sausage gravy and the Crab Hash were delicious. The omelet of the day (spinach, feta cheese and carmelized onion - mmm!) was also a hit. I'll definitely return to try out the dinner menu - a great experience all around.
