This was my first time visiting Spice Market for dinner, and I have to say I wasn't all that impressed with the food. The ambiance of the restaurant is very peaceful and beautiful. The booths are spacious and comfy as well. As the reviewer before me notes, they start off the meal with lemon scented hot hand towels which leave your hands feeling clean and refreshed. Next come the delicious pappadums with a zesty tomato paste chutney, just like mom makes at home. For the main course, a friend and I shared the Spicy Shanghai Noodles and the Vegetables in Green Curry. The noodles were terriibly bland - there was nothing "spicy" about them! Its like they were boiled in vegetable broth and that's it. The Vegetables in Green Curry were not bad. Every now and then you'd bite down on whole peppercorns that would set your mouth temporarily on fire, which was a welcome blast of spice. My friend ordered the Ovaltine Kulfi for desert which was pretty tasty. We could have done without the cracker jack popcorn as a garnish though. The kulfi itself was less like ice cream and more like a thick chocolate mousse that was frozen. All in all, for the price of the meal versus the value of it, I probably won't be going back any time soon....
