A group of friends and I attempted to use the Groupon deal here, and were disappointed as soon as we got there. There was a 10 minute wait to get in, and when we got to the counter, they attempted to charge each of us a $5 cover charge (for a bowling ally?! really?!) . The Groupon deal made no mention of this anywhere, but the employees were adamant that the fee could not be waived, so we asked to speak with the manger. After a 10 minute wait, the manger finally came out. At first he tried to tell us that Groupon is responsible for the fine print of the deal, not Bowlmor lanes. After I asked him if Groupon was ever informed about the cover charge, he replied that they were not, and that Bowlmar Lanes was under no obligation to mention extra fees not stipulated in the purchase because they had been "charging a cover charge for 38 years." Throughout this whole conversation, the manger was extremely nasty and condescending. While we didn't end up Bowling there (Groupon gave us a refund), the interior looked cheap, plastic, and sleazy - like an outrageously priced sketchy lazer tag arcade. My advice to anybody thinking of bowling on the Lower East Side: stay far away, you can do better.

This place has a good ambiance. The place is a bit dressy, but definitely has a more mature crowd than other places I've been to. They had old movies playing on screens around the place. They had music playing, but no dance floor. They have a girl dressed like a fairy, selling absinthe. Some of the people in the group we were with, bought some of this drink. Don't know if it was the real deal or not, but they sure enjoyed it! I like this place and would probably return, but the $20 drinks suck!
