by Imelda Cardiel on All in all, not a bad place. BarChi is located in the old Yu space but has a completely different philosophy on the dining experience. Part bar, part restaurant, BarChi in my opinion straddles an awkward middle ground for the early 7-8pm dinner crowd. It is the inverse mullet of restaurants, which is to say the party is in the front (laser lights, thumping music, lit bar) while the business is in back (tables, soft lighting, kitchen-view dining) -- kind of a distracting dynamic when the place is otherwise relatively empty and quiet. Our table sampled a variety of signature sushi roll dishes, edamame, and a few rounds of drinks. The sushi was very enjoyable and particularly spicy, which is always a plus in my book. This place is pretty pricey during regular hours; it is probably best experienced late night for their ridiculously cheap 10:30pm to 1am happy hour.
by Cheryl Kirson on A few years ago you could find me at Rumor every Tuesday and sometimes on the weekends too. I recently revisited the club and was pretty disappointed. I went with a group of girls and our friend who is an international DJ happened to be in Boston so we figured we should take advantage of the opportunity to see him. The problems started before we even got in the door. The bouncer actually told me to 'shut the fuck up' when I asked where the guestlist line was and then the guestlist girl proceeded to inform us that 'no, we were definitely not on the list and the dj's dont know anything'. She was the one who didn't know anything because when I took a quick look at the list my name was clearly there. The staff at Rumor either think they're above the rest of the crowd or maybe there is some other mysterious explanation of why they are so rude. Either way, next time I'm heading out for $16 martinis it will be most definitely be somewhere else.
by Tien Y. on We stopped by here after leaving Jane's House right next door. I didn't know what to expect when we walked into this place. It was recommend by our friends so we decided to walk on over. As soon as we walked-in, the music was just perfect... my body was swaying to the music without effort... It was dark, but comfortable. People around me were very friendly. Next time we in this area again, I'm going to drag my friends this way~ Music... music was just perfect~
