by Jason P. on Sorry for the long review, skip to the last few paragraphs for my unique experience that really shows how this restaurant stood out. My girlfriend picked Zahav for her birthday dinner, I was a little nervous having never really hearing of it and seeing rateclubs's, "Middle Eastern, Vegetarian" categories. I didn't say anything because the dinner wasn't for me and I'm sure glad I didn't because it wound up being one of the best meals I've had. We both tried the tasting menu at our friendly server's suggestion. He actually smiled when we told him and was genuinely excited to guide us through the menu and offer his suggestions. The hummus was good, not bad, not great. I'm not sure if I've ever had "great" hummus. The freshly baked pita that came with it was great though. After that was the Salatim, some 2-tiered assortment of different salads. Every one of those were excellent. Next were the small plates. I got the braised veal cheeks which were very good. I was feeling a bit adventurous after the Salatim so I also got the raw lamb. This was probably my favorite dish of the night. Very fresh and unique and delicious. My girlfriend got the sweet breads and another dish I forget. One important piece of advice for uncultured boyfriends such as myself: SWEET BREADS ARE NEITHER SWEET NOR MADE OF BREAD!!! They are actually some kind of lightly fried animal glands. I was completely taken by surprise and they were not my cup of tea. We got the short rib main dish, and another I forget, but they were both awesome. We were so stuffed by dessert we only really ordered it because it came with the tasting menu. I got some fruit parfait and my girlfriend ordered the rice pudding. Mine was really good, my girlfriend however was not too keen on the rice pudding. I had a bite too and something was off. This is when I was completely blown away. The manager or maybe owner came over and asked how everything was. We told him everything had been great, he saw the rice pudding wasn't really touched and asked specifically about it. We politely told him it just wasn't really good. He apologized and offered a different dessert. Being so stuffed we thanked him but declined. I then saw him go back where the food was coming out, a few servers were gathered around him, and I saw him say with such bewilderment in his face, "She doesn't like it?" I could really tell he was concerned about the quality of the pudding. He went into the back and came back out with another parfait even though we had thanked him for the previous offer. He apologized again and I could tell he was very sincere. The food here was really great and the service is even better. I'll definitely be back!
by Tiana M. on I've been to this club 3 times, and still not sure how I feel about it. I will say that the crowd is not defined, and the cigarette smoke is a big turn off. I do like that there are multiple rooms to choose from with different genres of music in each. Parking is reasonable, there is an option for valet and several surrounding areas to park on the street. Inside, there is a lot of room to move around until it gets crowded, and it is furnished well, if you ever get a chance to see it while the crowd is slim. Just still not sure how much I like it...
