by Rose G. on If you're with a group of friends, then this place can be pretty fun (if you've all had one or two drinks, then it'll probably be even more entertaining.) There are games where you can win giant stuffed animals, a dunk-tank which is enormous fun, and circus acts like jugglers and contortionists who intermingle with the crowd. So yes, Carnival gets my A-OK vote. However, and this is a BIG however, don't bother going if you're with any less than 3-4 friends, because it can get quite awkward fast. Plus, one can run through the games quickly, and then there's not much to do since no one really dances. Bottom line: Yay for going with a group of friends for an hour or so, but don't dedicate a whole night to Carnival, because you'll end up bored and remembering why carnivals only come to town a few times a year.
by Tricia Emick on On Saturday, as my friends went off to some green-tinted cesspool no doubt teeming with flotsamdouche and jetsumdouche, I needed some place to hide out from the St. Patrick's Day pre-celebration. I grabbed Don Delillo's White Noise and asked my friends where the nearest gay bar could be located, because quietly reading a book in a gay bar is the precise opposite of St. Patrick's Day. (FACT!) The confines were comfy, the staff friendly, the Rock Art ESB pints tasty & I managed to pass the afternoon undisturbed by drunken faux-eire revelers.
