I am a fantasy football junkie. I used to be a Raider fan but they've sucked so bad for so long that I've completely lost interest and now, I have no allegiance to any team whatsoever. All that matters to me is how my fantasy players perform. This presents a unique challenge on Sunday morning. It's not enough for me to find one particular game and camp out in front of the TV showing that game at the local sports bar. I need to have a viewing angle such that I can see all 9 morning games, or at least the games in which my players and my opponent's players are participating, which usually amounts to all 9 games anyway. Over the last 5 years I've gotten very good at paying attention to all 9 games and at any given point, I can tell you what's happening in all of them even after a bucket of frosty beverages. Very few sports bars in SF have layouts that support these requirements and if they do, there are maybe only one or two sufficient viewing angles available, which means getting to the bar at 9am to snag a seat. Thank the football gods that I discovered Jillian's this year, which has modeled itself after a Las Vegas sports book. They project games above the bar on 3 large contiguous screens with the two end screens showing 4 games each and the feature game showing in the middle. There are plenty of seats that allow you to view all 9 games. The best seats are the scorers-table-style seats which line the front of the elevated dining room. The viewing angle is straight on (no neck craning required) and it is impossible to have your vision obstructed by some oblivious mongoloid walking in front of you. There are about 10-15 of these seats available and for reasons I can't explain, you can snag one even after 10am kick-off. For groups, arriving at 9:45 is sufficient to secure these seats. The downside to Jillian's is that the food is not notable, the coffee is awful (I recommend a pit stop at the Starbucks across the street before arriving), there is very little eye candy among the employees, and prices are average. However, these minor annoyances are just a small price to pay for Jillian's epic layout. This is truly the best sports bar for fantasy junkies in SF. P.S. I am reviewing Jillian's strictly as a place to watch NFL football during the regular season. I have no opinion about this place on the other 348 days of the year. P.P.S. If you dis Eli Manning loudly and frequently enough, one of the bartenders of the female persuasion will haze the fuck out of you with Smirnoff Ice and coffee flavored tequila, to which my fellow Ratecluber Joe M. can attest.

This venue is huge I love the outside patio, good place when you wanna take a break and its hot!  Many bars so its easy to get a drink and not have to wait.  I am just judging the venue and not the crowd since its different crowds on different nights.

2/28/09 - Bartenders at the front door lounge area were cool. Asian guy and an Asian girl.  But other than that, service all across was absolutely awful.  Absolutely, ridiculously, absurd. Expect snobby bartenders who should be looking for jobs elsewhere...if you ain't happy...bounce!  A very stingy management (that's the word on the street), yack in the bathroom, and glass on the floor waiting on a lawsuit. I had table service for my friend's b-day.  Some Latin dude in a pink tie, white button up and grey vest, who's job description is..i dunno, guarding the velvet rope, cuz he aint a bouncer!....tries to tell me what I need to do with my $$$ to be able to get the bartender to serve me...Funny, she aint hot, and cuz he started sounding if he was her personal bodyguard or something.  But from what I saw the entire night, dude was at a fixed post  watching her run around the entire club...  This same dude starts deciding my method of payment with my cash and credit card to get bottle service...btw...$280 a bottle and an .18% tip (approx $90) to this Asian girl who brought cups and chaser over two times the entire night and left.  That it.  That's it?  That's it!!!  We tapped our own shit and she was nowhere to be found when we needed her to take care of people or business.  I want my money back. If you wanna pimp a bottle ahead of time and just party exclusively on the dance floor, this place is decent...otherwise, beat it and go to the porno store next door with your friends....it's guaranteed you'd be laughing harder than you did inside that mess of an establishment.
