I heard a lot about FLIP Burger Boutique from friends and on the internet. Once I saw the menu on their website, I was determined to make it a destination. It was an odd location for the type of place it was, being right outside of the "ghetto", but it added to the buzz I guess. When we walked in, I was pretty impressed by the layout and the booths with the upside down booth on top was pretty neat to me. Now to the menu. When i picked up the paper menu (which would've been a better material for the price of this place) I was dumbfounded as to how I was going to narrow down my choices to three things. I chose the Ossobuco burger because I am a huge fan of veal. Also, to accompany my burger I chose the duck confit nuggets and the foie gras milkshake, both because they sounded different and something I wouldn't find anywhere else. The burger and nuggets were amazing! The burger was cooked perfectly, even though I wasn't asked for a preference of temperature. The milkshake was one of the better milkshakes I've ever had even being flavored with fattened duck liver. The amount of food I was given was just right, I was perfectly full without being too full and not hungry at all afterward. I thought the pricing was just right on the quality of food served. Everyone was complaining because it was expensive, and I know veal and duck and foie gras are not very cheap. Overall I was very pleased, and I shall return very soon to try more of the menu.

Oh Trunks!  I struggled with rating you because I LOVE sudo-divy bars with pool tables, stiff drinks, always a place to sit, and bartenders that actually talk to people and know their customers like in the old days. I almost gave you three stars for your patrons - it's a toss up.  We've met many a good people in my few months frequenting Trunks.  But I've also encountered sex in the women's single bathroom (ugh!) and men that are a little too touchy feely where as I never thought my boys would have to defend my honor in a gay bar!!  Maybe a security guard would be nice as over the months your popularity has increased and I'm sure you could afford it!! But you got four - because for the most part everyone is out to have a good time, is unpretentious, is a mixed crowd (age, race, gender, orientation) - it's like being at UN, and the music is just fun.  One night, it's quiet and you can play pool, the next night, there is a b-day party, the place is packed and folks are laying on the bar taking body shots.  I could look fabulous, I could come in my sweat pants and nobody gives a damn. So keep hanging Trunks and get a bouncer for the grab asses!

Frying pan, I am a fan. Let's see: Eating on a ship docked on the Hudson River? Very cool, especially with a view of the city line and New Jersey surrounding. Go at night: how romantic! The food? Really really good 'dock' eats. Our group had crabcakes, hamburgers, and seasoned fries. Tasty! My crabcake was perfect- flavorful and not greasy. The fries were yummy too, I think they were beer battered. Folks sitting around us were eating other good picks like hot dogs, mussels, and even lobsters. Environment? Fun! Lots of different groups and tons of space. People like to get round after round of beer, so make sure you don't sit next to someone obnoxious! We ended up moving to the upper level of the ship, felt like we were at a yacht party. Huge dance floor on the lower level. The dj spins a good mix- 90s, old school, doesn't overdo top 40 stuff either. Go, now! You definitely want to go while the weather's still nice.
