Bootie, bootie, bootie, ROCKIN' EVERYWHERE! Bootie is probably the only place that will get me to drop it low one minute and headbanging the next. It is also the only night venue that passes out packets of honey roasted peanuts--airplane style--with your beer! The music's great--featuring various live acts and mash-up djs. They bring in the old and new school. My favorite mix had to be the taylor swift vs kanye west. Not only did they bring in pop culture news, but they threw two totally opposite music styles together. a-ma-zing. The best thing about bringing some old school music in is being able to sing along to music you havent heard for a while. I had a great time singing to journey while jumping up and down along with the crowd to the live band. My thighs got a good workout by the end of the night. My latest discovery of this great place was their regular staff. Unlike most venues with impatient and b*tchy security guards, Bootie's staff is friendly and understanding. My friend stumbled into the guard who was watching the door for smokers and he held her up, spoke to her patiently despite her drunken babbling, gave her a bottle of water and asked her to just chill for a moment on the side. Yes, they give you FREE bottles of water if you need it. It's probably part of what your $12 cover's funding. I'd say it's worth it. The line to Bootie was particularly long the night I went, but it moved quickly. We did notice a staff standing in line in front of us. It turns out that's the cut off for those who got in line by 10pm for the $6 cover fee. Yep, IN line before 10pm, not through the door by 10pm. There's no shady filtering like most night clubs. Did I mention that there's rarely a long wait for the restrooms? The stalls might be a little on the cramp side, but atleast I dont have to stand in line doing the pee-dance. I was surprised since there were so many people in the venue. Bootie brings everything--great music, strong drinks, snacks, friendly staff, an eclectic mix of san franciscans, and of course the pirate and the bunnie dancing on top of the speakers.

YES. Loved this, It's events like this that make me so happy I live in SF. For $10 you have access to the whole academy for 4 hours starting at 6pm. Yes, it is crowded but honestly not much more than the weekends. They serve food/cocktails til 9ish... and what is it with that DJ? At 9 everyone was jumping up/down like it was a Fri nite, I didn't want to leave! Whomever came up with the idea of working at 8AM on Fri should be shot.

"Oh My God...  We have to go to MONSTERS?!"  Really that's what I like to call this place - MONSTERS - not because the staff or people there are beasty or anything.  It's because the place is so dingy, grimy, and gross that I seriously believe monsters are going to come flying out of the bathroom at any moment and swoop down on all the dudes and chop our heads off. Seriously, though, the vibe here is not good.  The staff act like they don't want you there - or maybe it's my penis they don't want there.  No matter how much you tip or compliment the bartenders, you cannot get them to crack a smile.  You may, however, see their crack as their dickies sag or when they bend over to grab a beer. And really, the buffet...  Come on, pigs have better digs from a trough.  It freaks me out a little bit because it's so dirty on the first floor.  And don't use the mens restroom - hold it or go outside - I don't think they've been cleaned since 1999.  Oh it's nasty! If you do decide to go, I'd recommend going on a Thursday night.  They have a great drink special.  And the drinks they serve are seriously straight booze with a hint of ice!  That's the only saving grace, the strength of the drinks.  After 2 or 3, you'll be able to tolerate everything else.
