That being said, brilliant little community of off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-Broadw ay dreamers belting out showtunes to proper live acompaniement. The piano player is epic, the barkeep can make incredible martinis... and my Beefeater Gibson the size of a tanker truck was $5? $5? This was like 2 martinis... for $5? I will be back, every night, and I am prepping to sing Starlight Express. http://www.youtube.com... (that has got to be the worst play of all time) Okay okay... I will sing "Innocent when you Dream" from Frank's Wild Years. http://www.youtube.com... Hi Mr. Waits, if you read this, which he obviously will not, which makes me wonder why I bother typing this oh god I need a drink. Edit: I forgot something. Two ladyfriends were leaving the bar, and I said to one of the siren songbirds "We are a big fan of your voice", to which and wit she replied, "Well, I am a big fan of meth-amphetamines", in a listless drawl drool of a puddle of words. Her friend said "thank you" on her behalf and said, "I can't sing... but I do makeup". After a pensive pause, she gazed, "I did Obama's makeup once." This made me happy for her, and suggested that Obama may be a handsome man. She took four strident steps towards me like the crack of a whip and, in my immediate interpersonal space area in my face region, spat "Yes. He was. I shoULD KNOW I TOUCHED HIS FACE MUTHA FUCKA!" And they ambled off in the lackadaisical and errant fashion of bored sharks after scaring the living bejeezus out of green divers. It was exhilarating and brilliantly, wholly appropriately, odd all at the same time. So it goes at Martuni's. Barkeep - another one.
by Arian A. on Ambiance. Ambiance. Ambiance. What a great atmosphere to enjoy a great meal. There were four of us in our party and they placed us in a little room which was semi-private and awesome! It felt as if we were the only diners. The 5-course tasting menu was amazing and included a deconstructed Waldorf salad, scallops, quail, and my husband's favorite, pork belly. The wine pairing was also delicious. If you are a light weight drinker like me you can have the option of doing a 1/2 glass wine pairing. All in all, the experience was so choice. Plan to visit again in the future.
