I came here awhile back before the remodeling with two former co-workers on The Latin Thursday night.  But I heard that the club is  better now after the remodeling. Checklist: *Cheap cover--$2, how unheard of!  Check. *Fit male go go dancers in tight undies..drool..  Check. *Unisex bathrooms.  Check. *Very strong drinks.  Check. *Buy 1 get 1 free drink deal.  Check. *Friendly bartenders who will fix your drink if it's too strong for you.  Check.  As my friend said that night, "See, at gay clubs you can bitch to the bartender about your drink, and they'll fix it!" *Smoking area.  Check. *A diverse crowd.  Check. It does get kinda hot in there, and lacks ventilation like a lot of places in SF.  Overall, an okay place to party if you're in the Castro.

This is probably my favorite re-occurring party in the city. It is so amazingly fun. If you like great music (no matter what genre) and love dancing, you're missing out if you haven't been to Bootie. Location: Fun location with tons to do around in the SOMA. There are restaurants, other bars, etc. A bit tricky to get to if you don't drive so make sure to stack up the taxi money. Space: Bootie takes place at the DNA lounge, which used to be, and some days still is, a truly goth venue. Yes, I said goth. There are two dance floors, one down stairs with a stage and one upstairs, as well as three bars. It's huge! And always packed. Ambiance: This is my favorite part. It's super diverse inside. There are young people, old people, people of all backgrounds and from all neighborhoods of San Francisco. There are hipsters, yuppies, marina people, geeks, gays, everything. It's actually one of the first and only places that has equal parts gay and straight. BUT the music is the true allure of this place. They have mash-up music, meaning Madonna will play mixed in with MJ, or Social Distortion will play with Prince, it's really really amazing. Best place to dance. There's also a performance till like 11:30 with awesome goth performers singing YMCA. Service: Awesome service. Despite the hoards of people, there are three bars where you can get drinks pretty quickly. The drinks will also f**k you up. I had two martinis and then asked the bartender for a third "big" martini. He made fun of me and then gave it to me for free--I LOVE HIM. Food/Drink: The drinks are served in plastic, so don't think this is a fancy affair. They're strong and generally well priced...considering you had to pay $15 to get in. And they will do the work of messing you up and improving your dance moves. Overall: My favorite place to be every other Saturday. I don't know why I hadn't come in such a long time. Love Bootie.

I had no idea Roe is a restaurant because by the time we got there, it was all club and no food. The line to get in on a Saturday night was long. Make sure you get into the right line. There are two. One is for "regular" guests and one is for people on a guest list. We chose the later and waited for about 45 minutes to get in. I kept repeating to myself that this place better be worth the wait. We finally got in and headed to the upstairs bar and dance floor and proceeded to shake our booties until the wee hours of the morning. The hip hop beats are a perfect mix of old school and today's hits. The dance floor is crowded, so be prepared to get to know the people around you quite well because you will inevitably bump into them throughout the evening. The downstairs dance floor is more electronic/dance and has a completely different crowd and feel to it. The mix of people was all over the place. Young, old and all races. It wasn't too posh for my taste even though from the look of the outside and the 45-minute wait, you would think it's an exclusive club. I'm definitely coming back when I have that itch to work it out on the dance floor.
