A great selection of beers, and happy hour until 6:30.  Beers are 1 dolla off during HH, but that means a pint of PBR is 2.75, which isnt too shabby!  They have some good hot dogs (Hebrew National, apparently - we got into a discussion about hot dogs and I happen to be reading The Jungle, so I don't know how I ate a hot dog.  Sad, sad book by the way) plus other grub.  The best part is the activities that are possible here.  Shuffle Board (on the tables) pool and darts are all available (I won three in a row in darts!!) and Tuesday is trivia night!   Heck yeah.  winners get discounted tabs.  Not too shabby for a Tuesday night!

Wow - this place was a total circus when I went. Girls rolling their hair around, dancing on velvet couches, pouring booze on each other. I think I even saw a guy swinging from the chandelier. The door wasn't really a problem but it was a Tuesday and our friend came outside to get us. Overall, it's a gorgeous space with a fun scene. I do think it's strange that I'd never really heard much about it before this past weekend. For a lounge in the MePa that sounds like a death sentence. Or perhaps they've found a way to prevent the Tenjune B&T buzz.

After reading about Hotel Cafe as being a solid music venue and then upon arrival finding out Hanson was playing, I spoke to the bouncers there and asked the question: "Where can I find a drink around here that's not over-run by douchebags?" They pointed me to Mahoganey and after a drink there I asked the same question again to the bartender Allie and she said "Head over to Piano's." Thank you Allie. I walk in and a deadly reincarnation of Muddy Waters "Hoochie Coochie Man" is being played by the band on stage. I was exhausted and jetlagged with a fever and the only thing that could cure it was more cowbell... Err, well, whiskey and southern rock / blues would have to do. Hung out, got to know the bartenders, paid for a couple drinks, got a couple taken care of and left with a great impression. Thanks bounce-staff at Hotel Cafe, Allie at Mahogany Bar, and the crew at Pianos.
