I went to the Edison a year ago for the first time. It was the exact experience in a bar/lounge that I was looking for. Amazing ambiance, delicious drinks, strict dress code, relaxing... yet fun and loud at the same time. It is a little crowded. I waited in line for about 45 minutes on a Saturday night. The second time I went we went right in, there was no line. It is a great place if you want to hang out with a few people. Now to the reason that this place is only getting one star. I called to make a reservation for my birthday. We had a group of about 17. I read on the website to call. $25 per person was not a bad rate, because drinks are so pricey here (I think you're really paying for the general experience). I called and left a message. No "returning my call within 24 hours" like stated on the website. Tried http://opentable.comlike they suggest on the phone. No reservations for a party of 2 in the next month. I know it's a popular place, but not that popular. Called again sveral times during their "business hours" as posted on their site. No answer. My friend called and left a message. He never got called back either. Finally got a hold of someone the next day. Don't know her name. She didn't sound too excited to be talking to me. I said I had a party of 17 and wanted to make a reservation. She said anything over 10 was a $750 upfront fee PLUS $25 per person. I said, "Yeah that's way too much for my group, what about a table of 10?" I was going to reduce the size (the other 7 can make their own reservation). She said "oh, we're all booked for that day. All we have is tables for 4". Then I asked when these tables were booked. She said that they were mostly booked up yesterday. I HAD CALLED LIKE  7 TIMES THE DAY BEFORE! My first message was left at 10:30am (30 minutes after they apparently "opened"). No one returned my call. I will not be taking my party of 17 there, that's $435 + tax of $76... MINIMUM they lost from us. There are plenty of better venues who will just let you come without paying $750 for the privilege. The Edison is losing it's charm anyways... it's going down hill. With these business practices they'll be in a deep hole very soon. TERRIBLE customer service. I wouldn't suggest trying to make a reservation with them. They wont try to accommodate you at all.

I'm giving Beauty Bar 4 stars only because they have a bad ass dance floor...and good people watching patio. I find myself primarily doing shots of Three Olives grape vodka to mask the vomit and doo doo aroma that gives Beauty Bar it's hipster lovin' charm. I once worked in a stinky vomit doo doo frat bar about 10 years ago and we used something called BLEACH. hint- hint -nudge- nudge- wink- wink. The fashionistas are in full force here. Do not even attempt to blend in if you are super conservative, you will get gawked at. Hipsters can be just as snobby as the W. 6th crowd. Interesting how the ridiculous judgment is just about anywhere you go. Men have eyeliner and tight jeans, obviously to accentuate their quads from the hefty singlespeed bike ride over.. Girls succeed in wearing the most mis-matched garb and damnit I get so pissed when 10 girls have my same haircut!!!! I like the humor of this place. Quite frankly, I don't care how I'm dressed when I arrive, cause I'm gonna KILL YOU ON THE DANCE FLO'.
