by Janice Godert on Went here on a Friday on what I understand was the first week they were open. Just did some apps and a couple dozen oysters. The setting is great, good lighting, round booths are nice, although I don't like when they set tables with a booth and one chair. Oysters were fresh and tasty. Good happy hour deals on wine (and aforementioned oysters). Service was pretty lackluster, bordering on poor. The waitress seemed a little overwhelmed, and it took upwards of 15 minutes to get fresh drinks, and our second dozen oysters took over 30 minutes to arrive. I am willing to chalk it up to first week kinks, but was the pace and service really reduced enjoyment level.
by Carmela Bachor on I've been here three times on Wed night so I have a good idea of what this place is like. First, I have to give it to them for the view and for being one of the only good parties on Wed night. And it's also hella diverse. But after a recent experience I have to thrown down on them for their door policy. I realize lots of wanna be trendy clubs give big time preference to girls over dudes. I understand. But what Starlight does on popular nights is pretty wacked. Most everyone waits in the normal line. Instead of letting in a stream of people from this line, the fat bouncer periodically goes down the line and picks out groups with girls. He then brings them to the front of the line and lets them in. It doesn't even matter if the girls are a bunch of 250 pound ho's from Oakland with 4 children each. He only lets guys in from the main line maybe once every 15 minutes. So basically it blows azz. He could at least let in a dude or two once in a while. It's lame as hell. If you want to have strict BS crowd control things just be total dicks like Slide and say you only can get in with girls. Starlight blows ass.
by Stanley K. on What can I say about a place that serves alcoholic's alcohol and plays live music on any day of the night? Nothing, just see me there! Limited food selection, limited beers on tap, but awesome decor and music. Overall, I love the venue and definitely the music scene here was awesomeness to the extreme.
