DBar is intent on leading the charge for gentrification in Savin Hill, trying to lure well-heeled college students, foodies and wealthy gay South End types. The food is not amazing in the general scheme of Boston fine dining, but even a snobby gourmand would probably appreciate the quality and the effort to keep the menu diverse and ever-changing, and they do a good job making the atmosphere and decor appropriate for a nice dinner out despite its location on an industrial-feeling and congested part of Dorchester Ave. I've never craved anything from DBar, but nor have I regretted any of the multiple times I've gone. On that note, out of the 6 or so meals I have had there, I have twice found Mayor Menino dining inside, so he at least seems to really like it.

This place was a bit ghetto for me for my liking, but my cousins and I were there for a friends birthday so it wasn't about us that night.  Not impressed at all with this ULTRA LOUNGE as they charge $11 bucks for a watered down drink.  (Redbull & Greygoose)  Party people go somewhere down the way and get drunk elsewhere before ya'll get to Icon cuz you'll be paying a grip!!!  Not economy friendly that's for certain!  The place is actually a bit smaller than what the pictures displayed on their website, but photos are deceiving at times. Had fun at times since we were there with familiar folks. The fun times were ruined by a short dude who tried to step up to us and unbutton his shirt.  AS IF that would make a difference.  Talk to the knees...that's all we gotta say.

I went there on the first date with my gf so it's special to me in that respect. We were there for about a half hour, maybe a bit more, before getting seated on a Saturday night but I didn't notice the wait. We sat at the bar for that part. When we were seated - First thing I noticed was the size of the tables. Very big. I requested to sit on the same side as my future gf and they were happy to accommodate. I had the brisket burger and she the pimento cheese. We split the tots and fried okra, I think. It was all very good and very interesting. To be honest, I've had better burgers but as far as a date place, pick it. I am not hip but my gf commented that they were playing very good music too although I didn't recognize any of it. We parked across the street, not a problem. So, yeah, i'd go back.
