by Toby Millwood on My friend has a birthday party there on Saturday. A friend of his had a party there before. I wasnt impressed when he told me the venue. I still wasnt that impressed when I got there. The crowd is a mixture of B&T crowd, neighborhood drop ins and those that came for the Latin room in the back. The look of the place is definitely a club atmosphere. There are some couches and tables for a loungey feel. I did like the back areas, if you just want to stand or rest. You don't feel like you are stuck on the dance floor if you dont want to dance for that moment. The music was definitely Top 40 with a few hiphop/reggae songs thrown in. The DJ repeated some songs, but left out a few important party songs The ladies room is quite small and tight - isn't that always the case? The poor ladies room attendant didnt make any money according to her tip jar, but she was a bit aggressive with shoving paper towels at the handwashers. Come to think of it, the coat checkers at the front were cold & unfriendly- it doesnt hurt to smile or say thank you in response to it being said to you. I gave them a tip because they didnt charge me extra for my sneaker bag ( I never wear my heels home) This isn't a place that I would come back to unless I'm in the area (never)
by Buford Weppler on I remember when this club first opened up, all the hype and advertising/ marketing over the new "gay Asian paradise" pretty funny but must it have caught on pretty well because it is still packed in every Friday night. Before there was just the N'touch for this crowd which is just a depressing /desperate environment. You might as well dub this the n'Touch SOMA because it's pretty much the same depressing energy that haunts Club Dragon. This being an Asian themed club you'd think they'd get a grip on the whole feng-shui factor of the layout. It's a great space but something is just wrong or odd about the flow of energy there. I'm not a big fan on the music there...horrid late 90's circuit style trance downstairs, hip-hop (if you consider Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake hip-hop) upstairs. The crowd is rapidly becoming this live at home with mom Concord-Walnut Creek-Vallejo-Antioch 20 something set who act as if they don't get out much, and don't always posses the best humble push and shovey mannerisms. There used to be no cover here, but all good must come to an end, two dollars to three. Three dollars to five, and recently five dollars to an overly zealous seven dollar cover within the last year, it's only headed up to ten dollars if you're stupid enough to pay that to get in here. Come on now seriously... nice way to slowly kill your club, let's just leave it to the fate of the club-bar hopper. Worth it? Not really ...save your money and get yourself instant gratification by stuffing your face with a couple of bacon wrapped hotdogs out front, that's the highlight ending the average exciting night here anyway.
by Cat S. on All I can say about this bar is that it feels way too contrived. Food isn't anything special and I'm totally turned off by the giant cold unfriendly space.
