My friend and I visited Loca Luna last Tuesday night.  This review is for the tapas only - I'm pregnant and old, so no weeknight drinking for me.  Which honestly is kinda too bad, because I feel like Loca Luna is one of those places I would have enjoyed a lot more if I'd been partying it up. I'm pretty sure Loca Luna becomes some kind of Latin dance club later at night.  My friend and I got there around 6:15 or so, and by the time we left, there was already a live band playing (loudly) and people seemed to be in a party mood.  Maybe all the partying and dancing that goes on there was the reason that the dining room smelled a little...  off.  I can't put my finger on what the smell was, but it was kind of odd and musty. Tuesday nights are all-you-can-eat tapas nights.  For $15 per person, you can order as much food as you want.  You're limited to ordering two items per person at a time, but our server came back and checked on us so frequently that food was constantly arriving at our table. I didn't write down all of the tapas we tried, and the menu on the restaurant's website doesn't appear to match exactly with the one we had.  So I'm going to do my best to tell you what we ate, but I'm hazy on the exact names of some items. Tomato Bisque with Chorizo and Creme Fraiche - Oddly enough, this was listed under the "cold tapas" section of the menu despite the fact that it was a hot soup.  Not sure why.  The soup was quite tasty except that I didn't really like the little cubes of chorizo.  I like chorizo in general, just not this chorizo in this soup. Platanos Maduros - After seeing the rave reviews of this dish on rateclubs, I somehow expected more from it.  It wasn't awful, but it was kind of bland and overly mushy.  And I love plantains.  Meh. Espinacas - This was sauteed spinach with golden raisins and pine nuts.  It was pretty good. Empanada - The menu on the website lists a ham empanada, but the one we had was stuffed with brisket.  It was really good, and probably my favorite item of the evening. Moqueca - Ugh.  This sounded promising (how can you go wrong with shrimp, scallops and mussels in a tomato-coconut sauce?) but neither my friend nor I cared for it.  To me, it just tasted overpoweringly fishy.  Don't get me wrong - I love seafood.  This just didn't taste like good seafood. Yucca Frita - Fried yucca strips.  Not bad, but not super exciting. Patatas Bravas - After I just called fried yucca "not super exciting", I feel silly about how much I loved these potatoes.  They were crispy and perfectly seasoned and I really enjoyed them. Overall, I wasn't bowled over by food awesomeness but I'd probably go back for the $15 all-you-can-eat tapas again.  It's a great way to try all you like, and there were many more items we could have tried but didn't (because we got full really fast).  Service was good (water was kept full and we were constantly being asked if we needed more tapas) and the vibe was fun. Not too shabby, as long as you don't mind a little noise.

We've been waiting to go to Yoshi's for a long time and when Jake Shimabukuro, a delicious ukele player decided to stop by Yoshi's as part of his world tour, I instantly bought the tickets! In order to select seats you have to actually pay for a $20 dining credit along with your ticket, otherwise it's first come first serve for the seats. We never ate at Yoshi's before so it seemed like an appropriate thing to do, catch dinner and a show on a Sunday night. The $20 voucher is good for both the restaurant and the lounge. Fellow reviewers were right that the restaurant is a bit pricey although the selection of entrees and rolls were more comprehensive. This compared to the lounge which served a few rolls and more snack/appetizer type items. The lounge is huge though and on that Sunday at 5:15 (the show started at 7 so we needed to eat pretty early) the dining room looked kind of barren whereas the lounge area had tons of people eating, laughing and drinking so we opted for the lounge. For food we ordered: *$15 10 piece sashimi platter (pretty good deal for 10 pieces, they weren't huge by any means but hey it's sashimi), *$15 for the kobe burger with fries and aoli (the burger didn't taste any better than a regular burger, certainly didn't feel like it was extra tender kobe or anything; the fries were a mix of regular and sweet potato and it came with a delicious aoli dipping sauce-yum could have eaten way more of those!), *$5 seaweed tofu salad was very refreshing *$7 each spicy tuna roll/scallop roll-pretty tasty Our bill came out to about $60 for bar food but the ambiance was nice and it gave us the right feeling to get ready to listen to an amazing performance. Jake Shimabukuru is an amazing artist live! So talented, great personality, just an overall great performance. He'll be at the Playboy Jazz Festival for those who want to catch him in SoCal. The venue itself was intimate and great acoustics for us to hear Jake's talent. Really not a bad seat in the house although you are sitting really close to your neighbors. You could also eat while viewing the performance but if you prefer to see your food before eating I would recommend eating before. We had a great time at Yoshi's-great music, good food, a perfect date night or a place to go with your parents or friends!

I have featured there several times and the girls and staff are always super frendly. The autmosphere is verry relaxed no pressure type club.
