by Ashley T. on You have to pay a cover to hear a shitty DJ, there's a weird cat lady on the wall, the decor looks like the Golden Girls got off a space ship onto a planet of tacky peach coloured crap, and it's cash only. Sisters: You are the only lesbian bar in Philadelphia. All of the lesbians in the city and surrounding counties flock to you. I think it's time you get a credit card machine, or at least an ATM without a service charge. I'm just going to lie to my lesbian friends and say other bars in Philly are lesbian bars so never have to go here again.

TICS: Ordered non-general tics online from Yoshi's website (picked our seats based on what was available), but u have the option buying general tics @ door. All ticket sales are final (no refunds/exchanges) & tics are picked up @ the Will Call Window inside Yoshi's (in btw restaurant & jazz room) w/ ur picture ID req'd. Tics typically $13/seat, but add more for taxes, online svc fee, & if non-general section. SEATING: Great shot of Jazz Room by Keith K http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...We sat w/ the bench seating @ table 40, which was pretty close to the stage http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...The Jazz Room itself is a good size, decent walking space in btw tables, but table seating definitely just felt tight...in my eyes it's not big ppl friendly for seating, but anyone can make due...just expect some "Excuse me, oh excuse me, pardon me". 4-ppl to a very small table, so put on ur "friendly face" if it's just u & another, cuz 2 other folks are likely to join ur table. Hard to describe, but seating doesn't exactly let u sit next 2 ur partner rather 1 in front of the other...so I sat in armless chair w/ my back to my BF (who sat on bench) during Goapele's show...pretty much the case for most couples, but still enjoyed show. Note to Ladies: small purse recommended. AMBIANCE & CULTURE: Jazzy, contemporary, upscale coffee shop, & relaxed. No real dress code...some dazzled it up & some prob couldn't even define the word dazzle. Very diverse group all around from ethnicity, sexual orientation, & interracial couples...yeah, BF-J & I felt comfy/at-home in this crowd ^_^ I'd say age ranges late 20's thru 50's, but overall an adult crowd. TASTES: Being we were sharing the table w/ 2 other strangers who ordered food (only 1 app & 1 teapot), we ordered a teapot & a sushi roll...the lil' table was crowded. $10 total got us a $6 Sukara teapot (peach flavor) w/ 2-teacups (served about 8-teacups) http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...& a $4 simple sushi (cucumber & avocado). Aluminum teapot kept tea warm & we appeared to have enough sugar for our table...the peach flavor was a nice hint in the tea. Nothing fancy smanchy on the $4 sushi..just something to snack on. CUST SVC: Mmm, just ok. Warmly greeted @ Will Call, stamp on our hand by Ticket Taker, Usher greets & points folks in the direction of their tickets, Waitress takes order, & brings food. Odd tho, it took almost 30min for $4 sushi that just had cucumber & avocado...go figure. GOAPELE: Excellent as well as her band! Sound quality was great @ Yoshi's Jazz Club & view of the stage was fine too. Would I go see her again? Absolutely! Would we return to SF Yoshi's Jazz Club? Yeah, we'd consider it! by Iliana Mithell on Chill bar. Mondays live DJs spin pretty good Soul/Motown music. The usually project a movie on the wall, last Monday the showed the Hudsucker Proxy, which gave me a heart tingle. This bar is great on slow days, I'd imagine since the tenderloin is now becoming the trendyloin, this place might get a bit crowded on other days. That being said, make this a Monday bar destination for some good tunes, and not a whole lot of pretentious hipsters crowding you out from decent drinks and average priced beers. their draft selection is pretty good. And, the bar has a very cool easygoing lounge feel, with enough space to get a few friends to dance if your drunk enough.
