I just saw the burlesque show and a live band, I liked the band and the show was fun, not the best but for a free entry, who cares? The crowd is really various,  some upscale chicks, some rockabilly, plain people, hipster,etc. The only stupid thing, to me, it was the line outside, not bad tho, just 10 minutes, but really they made up the line just to attract the crows on my opinion. The decor inside is cool, Victorian, and waitress in corset. A different place to spend a different night.

I saw The Submarines and Bell X1 at Cafe du Nord, and I really enjoyed the show, and the ambiance of the venue.  The crowd was a total mix, the place was well-attended but not uncomfortably over-packed. The bands were both great, and given the relatively small size of this place, a group of us were pretty close to the stage.  Low ceilings, calm hues of lights, and a fun pub atmosphere easily boosts Cafe du Nord to one of my favorite venues in SF.  If you have the chance, check it out.
