by Tricia A. on I had an awesome time here on NYE! Hats, crowns, and party horns free c/o Bruno's haha! The art/ mural along the ceilings (first floor) is a nice touch to the place. This place was packed with people on NYE; I especially liked the red carpeted line at the entrance, confetti-sprinkled counters, and balloons floating all through out the bar and dance floor. Upstairs in the Pussycat lounge, you can find tipsy girls (and sometimes guys) taking turns on the stripper poles in the middle of the dance floor. The drinks are strong, the crowd seems fun. I'd come here again.
by mila l. on First time I ever went to marquee was the day after saint patricks day. And from the start you could tell it was a bit of a slow night. I think most people were burnt out from the night before. Anyway, we didn't have a problem getting in. the doormen were pretty gracious to us. Once inside I liked it. there was actually some breathing room! although, I can't say I understand the layout for the first floor. right smack dab in the middle is a half closed off area with tables on the inside. So it seems like if you're just there to dance, they're trying to keep you out. we were actually waiting for a group of people outside and were approached by a promotor inviting us in for free, to drink at his table. we must have been looking pretty appealing or they must have been short on girls. We were sitting at a table upstairs. which I actually really liked. The music is much better upstairs. Downstairs is ALL techno all the time. and its pretty funny that you can "look down" on other people. the guys there , well, you have mostly average looking ones. most in afterwork attire, and don't have the balls to come up and talk to you, but will proceed to stare at you all night. It must have been the night, because I don't think I have heard bad things about this place from friends who frequent "marqueezee". We had some nicely dressed people, and some girls looking pretty trashy in tops and jeans. The weirdest collection of people I've seen at a club in a while. Or the drunk creepy ones who come and slide themselves against you. and when you reject them, move on to your friends. ALL of your friends. In fact if you're not careful ladies, you will find your small, very drunk friend pinned up the staircase banister with said creeper dry humping her. I took the liberty of telling him to back off. I had to use hand gestures and repeated "go away" and he slinked away like a dog with his tail between his legs. yeah its a nice place, and I had some fun anyway. But guys really? cmon. I'd expect this kind of behavior at webster hall. I say avoid it weekdays or other off nights. that should have management weeding out the weirdoes.
