Crowd: Ranks somewhere around typical but can get to downright sleazy before the night ends Dancing: Dance floor too small. people banging into each other Drinks: Abysmally expensive $$ Music: Decent, but there are better play lists in other clubs. Attitude of staff: The absolute worst. To be fair there are a couple of decent bartenders and the Vietnamese security guy is a good man. But that's more than I can say about the rest. My favorite in that bunch is the greasy haired doorman at the exit door. That towering douche-bag is mean even to the girls. I understand that trying to look bad-ass while standing up a sum total of 5 feet and 3 inches must be hard, but if you think that licenses you to talk shit to people, you got another think coming. He is the very worst example of the wrong people given the power to crowd-control and thinks its his right to use it as he pleases. This, children, is an example of Gestalt Retardation, where the whole is greater than the sum of the individual retards. The retardation adds up and you will feel it very palpably by the end of your night, or your second time there.

My dinner at STK is definitely not what the typical diner would experience. I was with a group and we had a private room. A huge private room. I told my husband later that I guess it was about the size of a typical 1-bedroom apartment in NYC. There were 2 couches, a fireplace, a very pretty chandelier, 2 long dining tables. We enjoyed very generously poured cocktails before dinner and a seafood platter. Everyone complained that the shrimp were too large and didn't have good texture. I didn't partake in shrimp, but my oyster and tuna were delish. We had a set menu; I selected the Tuna Tartare appetizer, Filet Mignon entree and S'mores dessert. The Tuna Tartare was excellent. It was a very generous portion, and came with a pickled pineapple relish, crispy fried shallots, some sort of spicy sauce and perfectly salted plantain chips. Yum! I wanted more when I was done. The filet was very typical, nothing special. There was 1 random osyter mushroom off to the side on the plate, and the roasted (I think) shallot was under-roasted. The potato puree was great, very creamy and rich. The S'more dessert was good, just not quite what I expected. I expected 2 graham crackers around marshmallow and chocolate. Instead, I received a HUGE brownie with some sort of peanut butter-caramel sauce and marshmallow on top, and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side with graham cracker crumbs underneath. While not a classic s'more, it was tasty, just way too big for an individual serving.

TAKE IT OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!! I was thinking that when the burlesque show came on.   And the dancers did take it off.  full frontal nudity... per se.  They had the nipple cover thingys.. whatever you call them. This place is located near that bridge that is made famous in Hollywood movies.  It's on 1st St. near Vignes.  It was so hard to find.  My friend and I got our directions from Google Maps. But for some reason, her directions were not the same as mine... :-/  (note: we didn't know who's directions were correct) We drove up and down 1st St. This was how the conversation went: Me: So right on Vignes right? Friend: No, right on West Virginia. Me:  Really, Google Maps told me right on Vinges. Friend: haha, Google Maps told me right on West Virginia. Me: *wtf is going * ok we'll keep on going straight and see where it leads up. So we drove on 1st St, passing all the other state named streets such as Colorado, New Hampshire, Puerto Rico, whatever whatever until we hit Broadway.  I decided to bust a u-turn and basically went according to my directions lol. When we finally got to the destination, we parked on the streets.  Let me remind you that parking on the streets doesn't require money but this "person" demanded that we made a donations so that he would "watch" over our car.  I didn't have loose change nor did my friend but he said he'll break the 20 that I had.  I gave him my 20 and he started to run away.  I was like, wtf he just jacked my 20 but he actually came back to give me my change. This place is cool.  It's not that big per se but I like the decoration and the lighting.  It's red and very dark.  It has a few booths and places to lounge at which is cool, a small dance floor, and a stage.  The stage is where the burlesque show takes place.  There a small balcony area too but I didn't get a chance to go up and see what was up there. The bartenders are great here.  For some reason, bartenders in LA are more assertive than the ones in Orange County.  The bartender that was helping us the whole night was name Tom.  Either way, he was always on his top game to serve our orders. They also serve food.  More like appetizers though but still I find that useful especially if you're going to drink the night away. The DJ was spinning some awesome electro-indie-80s music.  He spun a block of Depeche Mode remixes and I was like, you got to be kidding me. I thought I had died and went to heaven. Overall, this place is a-w-e-s-o-m-e.  I would definately come here again. BTW - there is a cover at 10pm but we got there around 9 so we didn't have any hassle getting in
