A friend and I had a special promotion that allowed us to get into this club for free, and skip the line, on Halloween night. An amazing value, although the people at the door gave us a hard time pretending not to recognize the promotion etc. (this seems to be a pattern with me and clubs), with some persistence we wore them out and they let us through. The reason you come here is for that big, awe-inspiring club experience that is close to what you see in the movies. I still haven't seen that in real life, but Webster Hall comes close. There are 3 levels: the basement level plays latin/salsa type music, the ground floor plays hip hop/rap and generic billboard hits, and the upper floor plays house/techno music. Having those options is itself exciting. There's also a 4th floor up top that doesn't play its own music, but private parties can sit up there above the fray and enjoy the ambience. Maybe it was because of the Halloween party, but the club was unbelievably packed with people. With a place like this, of course you want there to be lots of people inside, but this crowd was just... wow. Just a bit too much. You would think with so many people, there'd be loads of single girls looking for trouble, but you'd be wrong. I don't know what it is about clubs, but it seems women don't go to clubs to meet men anymore, but to be with their girlfriends. Oh, there was tons of eye candy, but if you're a guy planning to come here with your buddies and pick up some cuties, unless you look like Tom Brady or something don't expect much. This venue gets an F in the drinks department. A bargain beer like Budweiser will lighten you $11. I asked for whiskey on the rocks, which cost $13, and the bartender poured me the most pathetic serving of alcohol I've ever seen in my life, at most 2 fingers in one of those standard plastic cups, and most of that was ice. I don't mind expensive drinks if they're good or at least generous with the booze, but this was a joke. This would be a cool venue to bring a group of people for a birthday party or something along those lines, and splurge on a table and bottle service. For anything else, i.e. coming with 2 or 3 guy-friends and waiting in line to hit the dance floor, you're wasting your time.

Overrated. One of the first restaurants I ate at for restaurant week a few years ago, and I never felt the need to go back. I still don't. I came here with 3 other friends and we each ordered something different so that we could all try a sample of everyone else's dish. Everything was way too salty and tasted more or less the same; and if it wasn't salty, it was bland. I don't know if it's because it was restaurant week or what, but isn't RW supposed to give you something to rave about so that you WILL go back even during its full-priced times? The worst part was the dessert. We all chose something different, and yet the sorbet with fruit was the best one. Come on, really? All you have to do is scoop that into a bowl and sprinkle some blueberries and raspberries over it, and that's the best tasting dessert you have? I can put that together from a grocery store for less than $10 that I can eat multiple times! Maybe the food got better. Who knows? I probably won't come back unless someone came to visit me and really really wanted to check it out.

I have to say, despite the mixed reviews of this place, I held a little party with a few friends a few weeks ago and found my whole time in this sports bar/club on the weekends frankly outstanding.  With the help of a very accomodating manager, I was able to book an entire private table section on the dance floor/club area with little hassle for advance payment.  Plus they did the courtesy of a no-hassle guestlist at the door for my friends, who I was told, weren't even asked for ID, they just had to drop my name at the front.  How's that for courtesy and class? One of the pluses of this place is that if youre not interested in dancing or listening to loud booming hip/hop/ drum & bass music, simply go over to the sports bar section and view whatever game is playing among the dozen different widescreen TVs, play a little pool or shoot some hoops if that's your thing.  There's a little something for everyone to do. Warning, it does get VERY packed on the weekend, so if you want to party, that's probably the night to go, but if you want a chill night with a beer, a few friends, and the ability to hear each other talk, i'd stick to middle of the week instead.  The menu for food is typical bar/grill fare and nothing exceptional.
