by Tanvi A. on this place is more like 3.5 stars. i went on opening night and, the place was packed. the crowd seemed to be a decent mix of people - i've gone to openings of some places where the crowd is 100% ghetto - not the case here. anyway, the bar itself is beautiful and they were playing great music. i think the biggest downfall is the layout. there's no real dance floor so, they've got club-like music going and no place to really shake that ass. that being said, it seemed as people got a few drinks in them, they were dancing all over the place anyway. it's definitely a place worth checking out - i'm interested to see how the dynamic of the crowd will change over the next month - SOMA has never been a go-to local for me. but, who knows, this place may prove itself to be better.

[a little segue into my lesson on proportions..] if there are 5 gents, how many ladies must be present in his party? a. 0 b. 1 c. 4 d. none of the above. e. all of the above. *if you dont want to sit through a math lesson, skip to this part of the review: **TRANSLATION: there must be at least one lady for each gent to enter this fine establishment. if you need to call your lady friend who is already inside to come outside and escort you inside, well.. you wouldnt be the first to do so. the inside is huuuuge - the bottom floor has several bars with bar stools, lots of standing room, some couches to lounge on, as well as an outdoor area with trees and tables and benches, oh my! the upstairs has another bar, a live dj spinning the freshest hip hop, plenty of space for a dance floor, and an outdoor hot tub. seriously. not sure why specifically, but the asians love and flock to this place. ...myself included :D
by Nicky Popat on Admittedly, Bowlmor has a nice atmosphere, and if you can ever get to bowl, it is good fun. However, because Bowlmor caters mostly to corporate clientele, it is nearly impossible to get a lane if you don't want to wait 2 hours. The last time I went, I was told the wait was 30 minutes. After spending a fortune on drinks and greasy food at the bar, I was then told the wait would be another 1 1/2 hours to spend an additional fortune for a lane. Bottom line, if you actually want to bowl, good luck unless you go with a corporate party. And be prepared to drop $50 per person minimum.
