by Troy G. on My trip here was before the restaurant moved from South Congress, so a lot of things may have changed since then. For one the chips and salsa did not come with the meal. Immediately I was in a bad mood. To sum it up, we had to wait forever for our food and the check. The decor of the restaurant was ok. The food was tasteless to say the least. I'm not sure if I've ever had Mexican food that didn't have much flavor, so it was kind of a surprise to me. It would take some serious convincing to get me back in here.
by Rachel R. on I was so excited for the Audio Alchemy DJ series - djs with live musicians in a jazz club setting! Unfortunately, the evening disappointed in every way possible. First off, the info on Yoshi's website says seating begins 15-30 minutes before the show. Our showtime was 10:30, so we arrived at 10 to find overwhelming lines, and all of the patrons didn't exactly look like Kid Koala fans. It turns out Yoshi's booked 2 shows simultaneously - the Jazz show would be in the jazz club until midnight, and then the Audio Alchemy event would take over. Until then, we were told to hang out in the lounge. Every step of the way it was long lines and contradictory directions from rude staff. The lounge space is certainly not designed for an event of this type - there is far too much seating and most of it doesn't have a view of the dj or the dance floor. There was not enough dancing room for an event of this kind in either the club or the lounge. Drinks were only available at the bar (even inside the jazz club), took forever to negotiate, were entirely overpriced and served to you by rude staff, And the cherry on the cake is that the few setlists that were posted were confusing and not accurate. Its clear that the entire operation is disorganized, not well run and looking for ways to bring in more money. I certainly won't be giving them any more of mine. The music was fantastic though - I can only hope that Dan The Automator takes the event to another venue, as I'm not setting foot into Yoshi's ever again.
