by Steph H. on Went here for brunch a few weeks ago. The brunch was awesome and very reasonably priced. If you've always wanted to go to the continental but don't want to spend a lot of money, try it for brunch! Sit in the swing seats! They are so much fun.
by Adaku T. on Oh hell no! O_O I've been twice. I hate it. Lemme tell you why. I went on Halloween under the impression they were going to play old school hip hop, as the website said. I go with my Epicurean friend, she's like my sidekick ; ), and they were playing the techno that competes with your heartbeat (I hate that) and everyone was dancing like they were in slow-motion on E while being filmed by MTV or a corny Disney movie. Ummm...??? Didn't see that coming... So then we ask the bouncer where the hip-hop is, and he said it was upstairs in the "Jungle Room" (?? O_o) So we go upstairs and this supposed hip-hop room was actually the smoking room, which by the way, is against the law according to what someone told me because the ceiling is not open...I hate cigarette smoke to no end so that was the deal breaker for me. We left. Second time was 4/18. Me and the Epicurean bought tickets to see Digital Underground ($20). I LOVE Digital Underground, so this should have been cool. The receipt said we needed to be there by 7 for Will Call, but we got there at 8. No one was in line, and we had to wait 20 minutes to get in, and it was really cold...I never liked bouncers So there were a few opening acts mentioned. One of them was this craptascular group called Hazmat. Now if you like the hyphy thing I'm sure you would have been gettin' down. I'll try to quote their opening: "....Ya da da!!...YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA diss HAZZZZZMATTTT!!" I was like "Oh HELLLLL NAWWWW!" Some people may not know this, but HazMat = Hazardous Materials, like the team that cleans up chemical spills. What a name, a hazardous performance in deed. Wayyy too loud. I regret not buying ear plugs prior. They just sucked. The only people dancing were the other members of Hazmat that were running around on the dance floor and gesticulating heavily. People didn't even come closer when they were like "YALLL get close to DA STAGE" I sat down with my Epicurean friend for the majority of this cacophony. Then some even more craptascular group came on. I didn't catch their name but I didn't like them. This group was louder than Hazmat, they made me wish Hazmat came back. I went to sit in the lobby because it was too loud and too annoying to bear. I'm glad I went to the bathroom before most people got in, cuz people were smoking weed in the bathroom, ugh. I was so irritated I left. I just didn't have the patience to sit through that to wait for Digital Underground, because I knew they were last and it was ~10 o'clock. Between the weed/cigarette smoke, the excessive loudness, the cold, and that god-awful omg...yeah, not fun. I've resolved to never go back.
