I took my out of town guests to this restaurant to check out a different type of restaurant and we were not disappointed! The food we ordered was a sampler appetizer and also a main course seafood combination that were both delicious and fulfilling. I had that mamajuana mojito which tasted great and gave me a nice buzz as well. :-) Their Captains Punch is out of this world good and we  enjoyed the restaurant very much because we went on a beautiful night and we got to dine outside the restaurant and enjoy the cool breeze and overall night time atmosphere. For those complaining on the long wait, well you need to think about this. Maybe you need to get a reservation beforehand because when you analyze it, Mamajuana is a not that big of a restaurant in size and there is apparently a high demand to eat there. So when you factor into the equation of going there on a popular night to go out eating (Friday & Saturday night), a long wait should be expected. Olive Garden in Times Square is a longggggg wait time and that restaurant is pretty big! Anyway, I would tell all the people who are reading these reviews to just go to the restaurant and experience it for yourself. Just remember to accommodate yourself to get parking at a garage and to choose WHEN you go WISELY, so that you don't have to wait more than you would like. I guarantee you that once you experience the food and drinks there, you will LOVE IT! Pros: Great Food...Great Drinks...Great Atmosphere!!! Cons: Finding parking can be annoying...

I hadn't been here in a while and we ended up going for a friend's birthday with 8 people or so. It wasn't as fun as I remember.  The bathroom was not very clean and no one was singing last night. Will try again sometime....

Harlot... a sexy word, in a very old, old fashion sort of way. The place represents its namesake.  Below it is dark with wrought iron looking light fixtures that drop from the high ceilings, steel beams proliferate mixed with elements of bricks.  Large paintings of various forms of Harlots whether representing true historical or mythical figures, or not, its painting style appeared to be reminiscent of strong Mannerism art influence.  Some works even struck me as Caravaggio inspired. The upper level contrasted the dark colors below, almost giving one a blinding sensation as you ascend towards the top, where you will find white painted walls and furnitures that contrast the sleek and darkly furnished lower level.  Gazing at the bottom from the top, almost gave me a sense of being a part of the Inferno and Paradiso world of Dante; or a mortal heathen staring down at Hades. The overall sensation of this place was like a surrealistic eclectic mix of various periods and epoch of the past. During the Rateclub event, the entire staff was phenomenal.   Their service oriented nature was evident - post-event.  I emailed their alias for a lost and found item, to which they responded very quickly, and updated me continuously until they have confirmed that my lost item has gone to limbo.  Amazing customer service! Of course, Aspasia (di Mileto) was enthralled to be in familiar surroundings, being a harlot and brothel keeper herself (in addition to being Pericles' faithful lover). **update:  08/29/2007** a Harlot at Harlot... sexy is an understatement to describe Harlot ... sexy, lustful, oozing with the base primeval instinct known to man .. Harlot.. a very conducive backdrop for a steamy make-out session with a random stranger, an in-transit Chicago Banker. The subtle intensity escalated as in a glissando rising towards a powerful crescendo.  While drunken with desire, the firehouse red tie re-emerged in my field of vision, the music stopped ... my mind returned to a lucid state.  I picked up my belongings and without a word, walked out of this elegantly lustful place .... fresh cool wind, a relaxing cab ride back to my Soma crib.  With a grin and a smile, I tucked myself into bed with thoughts of sexy Harlot.
