by Gerard I. on Caught the L.A. premiere of Machete, mingled with the cast and crew. I gotta say that the sound system kicks serious ass! There's like 10 subwoofers underneath the stage that it made me feel every kick, stomp, punch, stab, shot, etc. I was seriously blinking after every hit. The screen is also pretty big. It's an extremely easy theater to navigate. They should have more film premieres here.
by Chu Sieberg on JUST WHAT AUSTIN NEEDS. We have been to this place about 5 times. The food has exceeded my expectations repeatedly. The Ahi Tuna appetizer is always superb! Who would expect ultra fresh, delicious ahi at a SPORTS BAR? The fried calamari/artechoke appetizer is a great one to share. A nice twist on the same old fried calamari. Their salads are superb. Very hearty and delicious with plenty of of the "bad stuff" that can make a salad so good. Their chicken fried tenderloin is great (for those who like chicken fried steak) but what sets it apart is their green chile cream gravy. Good God, I would eat that stuff on a tire - it's spectacular! I now ask for a side of it regardless of what I order just so I can find something to dunk in it (my spoon if necessary!!). On the burger side, their Ahi burger is great - be it a bit pricy for what it is (I think Kona Grill's Ahi burger has a slight advantage here). Their burger with cheddar, bacon and hickory sauce is OFF THE HOOK. It made the top burgers in Texas list but it's absolutely the best burger I have had in I don't know how long. The beef was flavorful, the bread toasted just right, and the toppings appropriate to the sandwich. Yum Yum Yum. I am happy that this place is doing well (it's packed now) but kinda sad that it's no longer my secret place where I can find a table quickly. Cover 3 - You rule!
by Alexandra Gueningsman on I went here for dinner because we had a $25 coupon for it. The ambience is good in here. It looks like a jamming place for some night life. My positive opinion quickly went away when I got my food. I ordered the Enchillada for $13.95 and my gf ordered the seafood tacos for $12.95. Paying for that price, I would assume a good size enchillada. Nope. I got a two small corn tortilla roll on a big plate and some fancy sauce on it. When I tasted it, it was barely warm and there wasn't a kick to it like other Mexican restaurants I've eaten in. My gf thinks her tacos were good. I beg to differ but I controlled my mouth to avoid ruining the night. I thought that since we were both hungry arguing how the place is was not a good idea. When I was eating my food, it reminded me of a restaurant that my family at for my sister's birthday. I couldn't remember it but I know the taste was very familiar. When I got the receipt, it said "Please try our sister restaurant El Cholo.... Ah, I see... They have the same type of cooking and both I am no fan off. I give it two stars for the service and the ambience. Other than that, I can go back to King Taco for some good Mexican food.
