Free booze, free apps, free beautiful view of Hollyhood.  I can't complain. Went to the "Friends and Family Night" of Drai's Hollywood soft opening. As most new clubs (even in Vegas) the dancefloor is on the small side. I guess "nice" means small versus in my world "nice" is "holy moly rave warehouse big." Being that there aren't too many truly "BRAND NEW" clubs in Hollywood- most new clubs these days are just renamed something else and  has a splash of paint added to it - Drai's is pretty nice and also a nice change of scenery. I thought the place was fab/posh and reminisent of Vegas.  The staff seemed overhelmed - which hopefully gives them time to rethink how they should manage things. The view was really nice - usually smoking patios are of the back alley of the club and you don't see jack. But unfortunately my friends, this joint will NEVER be afterhours like the one in Vegas.  I doubt I'll come here unless they have a big headlining DJ, but I can never say never right?

03.29.08 Ryan Seng Project 2 This venue was nice.  The layout was a bit strange to me.  You walk in and it's shaped like a backwards L.  The bartender didn't carry sprite, so we had our Jameson with ginger.  I don't mind the ginger, but it didn't sit well with Santeezy. I work in a bar, so my drinks are always discounted.  Is a shot of Jameson always $7-$9 a shot? Guess I'm drinking well vodka when I'm partying in the city. My favorite part of 111 Minna was the graffiti wall across the street.  I really, really wanted to pose and take pictures by it, but there were a bunch of seemingly pretentious art snobs smoking in the front, so I didn't do it. The venue was nice.  I liked the furniture and the designated space for bands. The bartender was attentive and the topless servers were amazing. I've never seen such a random gathering of individuals, from pervy-looking men, to snobby art women, to douche bag dudes, to asian hipsters.  Quite a variety. The art was ok.  Perhaps it was over my head.  My favorite part of the show, besides my friends serving, was the ink on paper artwork.  It reminded me of a friend who I used to go out for coffee with.  He used to doodle things on napkins and I kept every single one of those doodles. Would I return to 111 Minna?  Maybe if cover was under $8 and if I didn't feel under dressed.
