In Alaska, the performing arts plays an important role in the nightlife of the state. The season for performing arts will typically begin in the fall, and will end by the spring. Despite this, there is plenty to do in the summer as well. There are a number of music festivals that are held during this time, and you can listen to live music or visit coffee houses. One publication that you will want to get your hands on while you're in Alaska is the Anchorage Press if you are visiting Anchorage, the largest city in the state. This publication will give you information on the best clubs in the area. There is a calender available online where you can find out which events will occur on a given day. There are a number of clubs in Alaska where you can listen to comedians. A large number of these clubs will be smoke free, so if you wish to smoke, you will want to do it prior to visiting the club. The clubs in Alaska are known for serving excellent food. In addition to the clubs, there are a large number of theaters where you can watch the latest movies. However, it is the performing arts that allows Alaska to stand out from other states in the US.
