by Philip L. on Rock Box is my kind of place. I'm a huge karaoke fan and the Japanese box style is definitely my favorite. The space is very cool, modern without being cold and the rooms are great. We got one with a window and enjoyed switching on and off the opacity to the street. The song selection is fantastic. It's super easy to use the iPad, find a song and add it to the list, which helps the tunes keep rolling along. Beverage selection is good, prices are reasonable and service was prompt. As with most box-style karaoke joints, by the end of the night it ends up being a fairly pricey affair, but they have solid happy hours from 4-8pm every day and all day Sundays, so I'd definitely recommend that. Very fun experience. Can't wait to go back.
by Katie D. on First off, the restaurant is very pretty and just a nice atmosphere overall. We were promptly seated and had a fantastic waiter- I believe his name was Randy. After trying a couple appetizers (a garlic soup that was divine and the lauded goat cheese balls that were more hyped than I prefer), we had some fantastic cheeses and meats. Our entrees were good, but overall, the appetizers and meat and cheese selection won out. I loved my drinks and would recommend the restaurant.
by Viki Stonis on Maybe I went on an off nite (Fri June 30th) but I HATED Turntables on the Hudson at the Frying Pan... SO much cheese (and young cheese at that, but thank you for offering us some puff the magic dragon! Was it that obvious that we needed it??) My one friend liked the boat cuz of all the different rooms, but my other friend and I have sensitive noses I guess, cuz all we could smell was the rusty toilets in the bathroom which killed our buzz pronto (oh, no! we are NOT having any of that THANK YOU VERY MUCH). On top of that, there wasn't much else going on in that area so we had to cab it back to where we should have just gone to originally, Cielo...
