I'm a sucker for a theme party. Last year it was 80's karaoke. This year, midnight masquerade at Carnival. I reserved a table via their events planning group and got some game tickets and premium drink tickets for our group. Nothing worse than having to deal with door sticklers, so we provided a list of our revelers and didn't have to walk any stairs. Our table in the Funhouse? The one by the colorful mural titled "MANEATERS!" So the scene is kinda ghetto but if you have your own, big group, it doesn't really matter. While I tried an alcoholic snow cone, my buddies won stuffed animals playing games (smallest: a Finding Nemo type fish. biggest: a person-sized alligator). We danced, danced, and danced. Next year, I think we're going to "Wig Out."

I've only been to the End Up for Reggae Gold, the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. So this review is for that b/c I like reggae, I like dancehall, I like dancing w/ strange men and getting freaky w/ my girls. The people at the door have always been cool at the beginning of the nite...honoring passes that "they don't take anymore", etc. However, when trying to get back in* and the 3am crowd is filtering in, it's nearly impossible w/out paying the guy at the door... After she'd paid $15 to get in, that fucker wanted $20 to get my friend back in so she could find me so we could LEAVE. She had a stamp and it was freezing outside. The music is usually good. Oh what am I talking about, I love it. I love the dancehall. The international night not so much. There's always plenty of guys trying to grind up on you.... So if this isn't your thing, or you get defensive about it maybe you should come here w/ a group of people (guys and girls). And you could learn a few polite ways of telling men to fuck off in a timely manner ;).. such as: I'll dance w/ you for this ONE song. That usually clues them in. Be honest w/ then and they should respect that. It can be touch and go when trying to dance alone. I can go for a few songs some nights w/ out some one trying to dance w/ me. But if you want to shake it w/ some hot, beautiful black men.... dang, this is the place. It's a great place to bring your man and watch him guard his woman's ass.... ;) The patio outside is beautiful, this area and AROUND the small dancefloor can be a meat market. (I was once verbally assaulted by some dick that I dissed.) But the vibe is generally relaxed. The staff isn't to happy about you smoking the danky dank on the patio or inside: Clue*: "That is why you have a stamp." *Watch what time it is b/c if the club is switching to their second event for the nite (and on reggae gold nite you can tell who is there for what music) they might not let you back in or you have to bribe the door guy or wait in that long ass line.
