by Valarie Younce on Not a bad place- it was super crowded here though and rather hard to get to the bar. So we hit the dance floor first and had some fun dancing. The DJ was not that great so we gave up after 15 minutes. Upstairs there is a small room, that can be rented out for parties- which we were a part of. The bar was small and there was not much room but it was fun music playing there and VERY LOUD! We left after 12:30 since we are not into the "party all night" scene! Ladies got in free but the guys had to pay $20 bucks! The staff/ muscle standing around was not very friendly (to be expected at this type of place) and when we entered we were frisked down- never got that in SF.

Horrible acoustics - or maybe that's because my table was right by the speakers - I think I can finally hear again. Saw Danny Glover - that's always good. Also had a tasty lemon drop (though what's witht he ice cubes IN the martini glass?). The best, though, was watching people dance. Sometimes I wish I had a hidden camera - people should know how idiotic they look. The service, though? Jeez. They take being in the background to mean disappearing. Seriously. We sat there for 20 minutes or so and then the waitress came by. Maybe we shoud have just gone to the bar? She came. Took another 20 or so minutes to make 2 drinks. Took my date's card and didn't come back for another hour. We ordered another round and that took another 20 minutes. Asked for a botte of water. She brought the bottle - no glass. Classy, right? Seriously - lot's of potential - but I live in the east bay - I could go to Yoshi's or Anna's and even if the service is bad, I don't have to drive as far.
