So along w/being a review this is also a response to Anna S's review who went on the 7th for jamie foxx & chrisette michelle.  This club not great. but these are new owners so us sf folks are giving them a chance to get their ishh together. I am NOT a promoter for this club, but for many others. Now with that said, i was here this night. 1. No Chrisette Michelle didnt perform. WHO CARES. Day 26 made an appearance, there was no promise they would perform. but again, who cares. there are even pix of them there that night. lol (they peformed @ suite 181 the next sunday) Most importantly...JAMIE FOXX WAS THERE!! and he performed not 1, not 2, but like 3 songs, AND KILLED IT!!! he was so damn sexy, im not a groupie but i felt like being one that nite. He went on around 1/115a and they damn near had to pull him off stage cause he didnt wanna leave. haha! 2. Guestlist - you dont get a stamp until you pass the window and get to the 2nd door, so i dont know what happened to you. outside is just a personal body check. 3. The club was brighter than usual on this night, i agree; which was lame. the front room is nice when its lit, and theres a dj but its never crowded enough. sad. As for the decor etc, this isnt a new club, its an old club remodeled over and over. unlike sj or la where the buildings are actually new. dont expect much. actaully look at any of the re-vamped clubs in sf when the lights come up & you might be disgusted that u were partying there. (181, myst, impala, nv) 4. never had a bad drink here. had some extremely over priced ones though (but thats everywhere on broadway now. u cant get a drink under $10) 5.ppl being trashed..um, its a club, thats what ppl do. the cops in sf dont wait outside the club to give you a ticket for "drunk in public" like sj (of course im drunk in public i just came out of a bar, what do u think i was doing in there.) so yeah ppl get drunk and hop a cab. 6. creepy guys. YOUR ON BROADWAY AT NIGHT. you're surrounded by strip clubs & nightclubs in sf. what do u think you're gonna see? (you've never been to 181 huh? thats in the tenderloin. crackheads, pimps & prostitutes. Harlot, mission right across from the bus depot, homless ppl sleeping on the st all over, infusion 1blk from 181. Etiquette-dwntwn mission st (homeless ppl, crackhead etc, shld i go on?) i mean its SF after dark, its a metropolitan, its grimey @ nite. clutch your purse n dont make eye contact, you'll b fine. lol 7. music here sux usually. be smart check who's dj'ing b4 you come just like anywhere 8. IT WAS THURSDAY no the club wasn't packed. but I think i've only seen this place packd once or twice since the takeover. i usually come in & get a cpl drinks bc they're stiff here & go elsewhere 9. every club frisks ppl, its not bc they think its hollywood. its bc they dont want u to get SHOT or STABBED. where are u from?!? they scan ur id to make sure its real. they get fined 5k & takin to court if they are found to have minors in the club. yes they have ear pieces as EVERY club in sf does. uggh, ever see a fight break out?or some1 pass out in the club? thats how they contact each other if theres a problem. long story short, its not the best spot, go there for drinks then go to impala. lol. its better on wknds. but its not as bad as she claimed. like many clubs nowadays you have 2 enter ready to party & have a good time. if u expect the club alone to show u a good time, ur in 4 a loss. the same goes for WET, Sabor, Taste, Vivid, Avalon in sj. if u want nice decor in sf, try infusion or temple. if you want a nice area go to rouge or dirty martini, if you want a crowded party go to 181 or infusion

Such a disappointment.  The smallest menu and the worst Ethiopian food I have experienced in the city.  It was all gray, dull and flavorless.  I now understand why a friend who eats here thinks of injera as a Nerf pancake.    There were only five things on the menu, and no appetizers.  The salad was wilted, the mushrooms tasted musty, and the lentils were cold. I guess as a bar, the place is decent, but if they are going to bill themselves as an Ethiopian restaurant, they need some decent (better than just edible) food. Go to Little Eritrea.  The Tej is cheaper for the same brand, the menu is extensive, the service is friendly, and the food is great, yet about the same price for more food.  Otherwise, if you want atmosphere and to pay a little bit more, go to Rassela's Jazz Club & Restaurant on Fillmore and get a swanky lounge setting and live jazz with good food.
