by Elmira Penoyer on Well, what can I say. This fits the usual generic, yuppie, young 20 somethings crowd looking for a good time in LES . It is a bit classier than most divey joints given the fact that the have some nice house cocktails- they're not half bad and you pay the price for them. Amongst them are named after iconic figures from the 1920s: Clark Gable, Ella (I assume Fitzgerald). This place is better on the earlier side- because it gets VERY jammed packed as the night rages on. And rage on, you shall at Ella. Upstairs, it's pretty chill, nothing special- downstairs is where the DJ plays on, and there's the most psychedelic dance floor with this crazy brown and white roof ahead. I did appreciate the uniqueness of that. There's not too much of a hassle to get in, but it's definitely a spot to check out vs. other LES douche bars. There's a quaintness about Ella that I like in comparison to the other places.
by Charmain Yegge on One immediately notices Le Club is different; the uncharacteristic dress code, the apartment building location, the crowd, the mood. Le Club is different. And therein lies its appeal. Whether it is your typical scene or not, most likely it is not if you live in SF (it is certainly not mine), the appeal and charm of the establishment is undeniable, if for no other reason than its disparate nature in the SF nightlife scene. I applaud Le Club for all the ways I've heard it described, all of which seem to have at least some validity to them: upscale, romantic, expensive, lame, pretentious, d-bag central, old folks hang out, escort central, belongs in 1930's Paris or NYC, etc. From my one visit, Le Club appears to be all of these things without entirely being any one of them, which helps create a certain, shall we say mystique, about the place. Le Club earns a Three for its unconventional nature and ability to stand apart from the crowd, for better or worse - I'll leave that for you to decide. In the end, for those adventurous at heart I would recommend at least a visit; who knows, perhaps you might discover you even like the place. Get involved. -MP
by Eric S. on I hit this place this past Saturday and WOW!!!! I danced all night to the funky hip hop beats in the front room and could barely contain myself after making my way to the 2nd room. Every where you go there's a phat beat filling the room and you can't help but move. Service was great! for a dance club. The girls behind the bar served me right up every time I stepped up! And let me tell ya, I stepped up a lot! The cash bar keeps it simple so no biggie there. I danced until 3 in the morning with my group of fun people. I had read all about this place from my fellow ATL rateclubsers and it delivered. Thanks for the good word you guys. I had a blast! MJQ gets 2 rock-en thumbs up! Eric
