PETE TONG - 12/1/2007 For those of you who don't know who Pete Tong is, he is only one of the most influential djs ever for dance music. He hosts one of the most popular dj shows on BBC Radio 1 and helps launch the careers of many dj/producers all over the world. DJ's world wide listen to his show and more importantly read his weekly track listings so they know which tracks are going to be the monster hits in the coming months. I've also have the privelege to see Pete at Pacha Ibiza Spain and Nikki Beach at Miami's annual Winter Music Conference. The opening dj last night was an incredible female dj who's name I do not know. When Pete finally made his way to the booth, the crowd was in a frenzy. I recognized many Pacha and Cafe Del Mar shirts in the audience as many folks wanted to show their respect for this legendary dj. As expected the music was great and as my first time as this place I was very pleasantly surprised. The sound system was great, the place was packed but there was room to dance and it wasn't too hot. The vip room was ok but I'm not a vip room kind of guy. This is not a place to be seen. This is about music. Nothing else. The crowd was excellent in my opinion. All races were represented and many folks had smiles with lots of positive energy. Why can all places be like this. Maybe it was because Pete Tong was in the house. And the last time I saw him in Ibiza, EVERYONE was smiling and dancing their asses off. Thanks Pete!
