So, this is the new Suite 181. This place eats ass big time.  There were no highlights at all. Maybe I should write to the General Manager but I know he/she would not listen to me, so I will let them know here. Let us start with the entertainment. The DJs were really terrible. It was the same old  radio, club hit crap that has been playing for years. What ever happened to DJs that played good stuff  and that knew how to mix, do some tricks etc. I suggest going to You Tube and viewing DJ Q-Berts "Lamb Chop" video. Hey radio DJs of Suite 181 you are killing the Hip-Hop and club scene with your style of playing.  Hey Management of Suite 181 (and the owner).  The San Francisco bay Area is know world wide for their DJ talent. I can name three (world wide known) DJs that would play there and turn that place around yet for some reason you as managers can't find one. You should resign from your post and be honorable ( I can dream) The decor...all I can say is wow, do not enter if you suffer from a seizure disorder. The beds, what a waste of space...were you expecting people to fornicate? come on have some original thoughs. if you must have beds, put some performers in there or something. The barstaff and the drinks available.  I have seen a better selection of liquor at Harry the Homeless' spot around the corner. I am not kidding, I regret not chilling with the local bumbs and getting a drink from them. I bet to that they would be better conversationalists too! To the bar manager, please order some quality vodka. Shit, this is San Francisco, not  San Leandro. My friend ordered a chocolate martini, guess what, the bartender couln't do it. She ordered a Lemon cake, bartender couldn't do it. So she then settled for a Surfer on Acid and she didn't know what it was. Are you kidding me? How in the world does these bartenders do not know how to make drinks. Now to be fair i don't know if they didn't have the liquor available to make such drinks. But as a bartender, you should be able to make suggestions with what you have available. I am so tired of venues hiring lame bartenders. To the owner of Suite 181, fire all barstaff because they were all lame and slow. Also, fire your bar manager for ordering crap liquor.  Here is a tip, there is a Polish Chocolate flavored Vodka, you can order that through Young's Market so that way your sorry lame ass bartenders can make a chocolate martini. The security, if something went down inside that club it would be every man for themselves and that is scary. In there defense though, I would be the same way. I guess a 94.9 crowd is just that... The location. This is the only highlight of Suite 181. it is located in a crappy neighborhood that smells. But, it is suppose to be that way. So on that note, the owner actually did something right. You know, the bumbs hustle you for money to watch your car and stuff. I love it. That was actually the high point of the night. I spent 12 bucks before we got in line. To the General Manager, you should take your job seriously. The owner obviously spent a lot of money, your job is to advise him or her wisely because it is obvious that he as an owner has no clue on how to spend his money.  Also, GM you should take some time learning about the underground scenes in the City. There are many great DJs, available for weekly residencies. I was so dissappointed because I know Pete Avilla is playing tonight there at Suite 181 but the Universe scene is not my cup of tea. So the GM must have some sence unless it was an accident. So to the dear GM, hire barstaff that are from the nightlife scene and not some kids who will become lawyers, engineers, model next week. Also get security that can bench over 400 lbs and protect us from the thugs that happens to be your crowd on a Friday night. I just don't get how can a place that has Pete Avilla as a resident DJ be so full of defication. The prices of drinks were ok too, it was actually cheap. But on the other hand for well bull crap liquor, I guess the price was a little high All right, if you want any more tips on how to be sucessful and turn that place around, I will be here...hehe. I am serious though, I love all the owners who try to maintain a culture of San Francisco that is struggling. It is sad to me that the LA nightlife scene is head and shoulders better than us right now. We have all the talent yet they play in LA. or Vegas. it is too bad the owner/dj of Temple plays boring music. They have the right ideas, they are just not good at DJing. why is it the the good DJ are broke and can never own a club like Suite 181 or Temple. Just because you are a famous DJ that doesn't make you good. That is why Ruby Skye sucks, all these famous DJs who bite and spin cuz they get paid and not for the love of the art. On another positive note for Suite 181, they can be great because weekly events are the way to bring back the scene. Good Luck legendary DJ Pete Avilla! Spin hard!

Are you in the mood for drinks, Korean food, plenty of space to lounge around w/ your friends, and feel as though you've been transported to Seoul?  Well, then you've found yourself the answer to all of the above at Third Floor.  I've been here for several get-togethers, dates, and random late nights for the last spot before calling it a night.  And though it's not a place I'd seek out on my own, it rarely disappoints. Good drinks - check.  Soju, flavored & non, beers, hard stuff, etc...  Surprisingly, they make a very good watermelon martini.  Fresh and not too sweet. Good food to go along w/ drinks - check.  I guess almost anything can taste great when you're somewhat drunk and/or have the case of munchies.  But they have some good stuff... ramen duk-bok-gi (very spicy though... unless you're w/ white ppl, they'll make it less spicy), omu-rice (omelette covered fried rice... yum!), fried chicken, and the obligatory mixed overpriced fruit platter (always goes well w/ Korean soju). Good environment / ambiance - check.  This ain't a club so you can actually have conversations here; yet, it's still pretty lively on most nights with tables full of giggling Korean girls, loud & drunken Korean men, and an increasing amount of white folks as well added into the mix.  It's laid back but hip enough so that you're comfortable no matter who you're with.  Service is usually pretty good too... though they often run out of a few items on the menu.  But not to worry... there's plenty to choose from and we all know that after several drinks, nobody is too picky about food and subsequent alcoholic beverages.
