DNA is by far one of my favorite clubs in SF of all time. First of all they host the best party in the world, Bootie. I live for the second Saturday of the month when its Bootie night. Smash up derby is the house band for Bootie and they are the world's only live mash up band. They put on a kick ass show and its non stop fun. PopRocks and Bohemian Carnival are also a great nights to check out. The club itself is really cool, they have 3 bars,2 dance floors, and the best crowd of people in the entire city. Anyone is welcome and anything goes as far as the dress code. They have an ATM inside.Oh, and the bar tenders kick ass.

man oh man. i was there with a bachelorette party on saturday night. not my idea, not my scene, but i enjoy the occasional shit-faced, blaring-music dance party. so i went here with an open (vodka-filled) mind. we were not subjected to the wait or the cover (because we know how to plan), but we still encountered 10 minutes of confusion and name-checks and idiotic people making us stop before proceeding further, blah blah blah. we finally get to our table (vip room) and order our bottles (i know that they mark these things up but these prices are REDONKULOUS, i don't care where you are, they should never cost that much). we had an ok time, but i got groped, my friend-of-a-friend got slammed against a wall and slapped in the face by some coked up slut who thought she owned the bathroom, another friend got punched in the face for knocking into someone holding their $25 drink.... it turned bad real quick. we bailed out. i give them 2 stars for being committed to acting exclusive and maintaining the imaginary image that this place is actually cool. and they have a really decent sound and light system too. but in reality, the place is filled with crazy losers and people who are way too messed up to be functioning.
