This place is good - great people; visible and engaging staff; nice waiters; cool bartenders; and, amazing music.  Yea, amazing food too. However, the downfalls are the:  1) infratstructure - the big fire place thing in the middle of the floor which blocks the front/band/entertainment view; 2) low grade alcohol masked as top shelf cocktails - priced that way too.  I mean, if you have to use a certain low shelf brand, remove the labels, disguised the containers; 3) WIC juices, I mean, it seems as if the staff shops by the local grocer - which is cool; very...!  Just put the stuff in commercial utensils/serving ware; and, 4) service is slow... But, I like this place; you have to have to visit - it's the best live music spot in the Southeast, Atlanta particularly...

Loca Luna is one of my favorite places.  I go when I'm in the mood to drink but also have conversation.  I've helped friends celebrate here several times.  I also like the music but, it can get really loud, which hinders the previously mentioned conversation.  I moved from Midtown a year ago and haven't found myself here since.  When I used to live in walking distance, I made the trek several times. Basically, drinks are good, people are friendly, and the tapas are great.

The Vanguard has finally started earning a new place in my heart. For such a large venue headlining an OM San Francisco based house DJ, it has been on the up and up. Kaskade drew a healthy crowd which was far better than the Oakenfeld crowd that I had met up with last time. The opening act, Glcyerin, was a house/trance live vocalist group was decent. It's not easy to do live vocals to trance from what I have seen in my experience. Kaskade opened up with some classics, he played Steppin' Out (a personal favorite) intro'd with Sweet Love, played Be Still and got a big uproar from the crowd right in the middle of the set with the title track off his new 2006 album "Love Mysterious" one of my favorite tracks of the night was of course when he mixed Steppin Out with Fedde Le Grand's infamous "Yeah Yeah" song. No DJ set is complete without it these days. Neither is it complete without sampling off of Gabriel & Dresden's first artist album with a few measures from "Mass Repeat" which provides some very textbook minimalist house beats. He also did a couple of 80s classics including Depeche Mode's "Everything Counts" (in large amounts). The Vanguard is rumoured to have the best sound system over any club in the greater Los Angeles area. From what I've seen the past three times that I have been there, it certainly is an incredible aural experience. The people are definitely decided upon by the act that you go and see, I would not recommend this as a club to go to just for clubbing sake, you definitely need to be there for the music. Also, if you are a girl, make sure that you have someone buy you drinks. Two redbull vodkas with bottomshelf liquor was $22 (not incl. tip!!!).
