i really don't know what to say here other than its a club, its crowded, theirs plenty of juice heads & bridge & tunnelers & of course EURO trash plus natives too. its your basic run of the mill club. Theirs only a few "club" clubs left that arn't really just suped up lounges left here in the city...like Pasha & Webster...the hay day of Limelight & Tunnel are gone....this is what's left to replace it. Personally mabye im just geting old but either way to me this is getn old.

Ahhh.. my first NYC club. Glitz and glamour. Beautiful people standing around while good music blasts through the speakers. Okay, I may have been buzzed but I really liked this place the first time I came here. It's beautiful inside! There are 2 levels; the main level features a bar, the table service area and a DJ booth. The couches are pretty comfy and there's enough space to dance as well. The VIP area is also downstairs, behind some roped-off, curtained doorway. Pretty swanky. Oh! And the restrooms! I don't really remember how we got to this specific bathroom but I think it was the VIP restroom because it was all roped off. They have chocolate in the little waiting vestibule between the bathrooms! GOOD chocolate, too! The upper level is just a dance floor with another bar. Nothing special. The second time I came here, I was definitely a lot more sober and saw that it's not as big or beautiful as I had first thought. Also, the bouncers are pretty nice. I've never waited in line, nor have I had a hard time getting in even when I dressed wrongly for the occasion (t-shirt, jeans & FLIP FLOPS. F'N FLIP FLOPS and I still got in). Drinks are average priced, music is decent, the crowd depends on the night.. oh, and I heard Marquee is supposedly the club you go to hook up.. so.. be careful! ;)

Cielo is my favorite and I feel the best club in NYC. That lovely sound you all referred to is powered by a custom built Funktion 1 soundsystem. APT also has a small Funktion 1 downstairs. In Cielo, it certainly provides a nice clear, crisp and balanced sound on the floor, and it's designed so well that you can converse on the outer tiers of the floor, which is nice, gives the place both a great dancefloor with top notch sound and a friendly vibe because you can actually talk to people. People have said it's intimate, which is true compared to say Pacha or Crobar, but it still holds 650 people legally. So it's not tiny. It's just that perfect medium sized room that there are far too few of in NYC. And the staff are generally courteous and respectful, which is another plus. Mondays you have Francois K's Deep Space, an amazing exploration of genres ranging from hip hop, electro dub, techno, house, jazz, rock and beyond. You know you are in the right place when you hear Jimi Hendrix after Strings of Life. He brings in great guests too, from Dzhian & Kamen, Derrick May, Stacey Pullen, DJ Harvey, etc. And the deep space crowd are all love! Great, friendly, open group of people, reminiscent of the body & soul vibe. This is one of the best parties in the world. Wednesdays is Roots with Louie Vega and Kevin Hedge. The old school NYC deep house heads make their at Cielo on Wednesdays. I don't go to this party but I understand it rocks. Robbi, one of the hardest working promoters in town, handles this one. Thursdays are the best night musically speaking, for my tastes, at Cielo. Robots do a minimal techno thing once each month with guests like Damian Lazarus, Superpitcher, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Dandy Jack, etc. Giant Step does the odd Thursday too, featuring artists like Ben Watt of Everything but the Girl Fame. (this is shameless, but I'm doing a party there on thurs 2/8 w/ Switch from London). Fridays and Saturdays are VERY busy there. Cielo's resident DJs Willie Graff & Nicolas Matar play all things deep, techy, sexy and otherwise, though the weekend crowd tends to be weekend meatpacking overflow, and not clued up music folks,  which is why I like Mondays & Thursdays. They did feature Charles Webster Fridays this past summer, which was excellent. One Saturday per month they host Tedd Patterson's Vibal night, which is quality, definitely a must do! There you have it! http://www.cieloclub.com
