Came here last Saturday and the place was very crowded, barely had room to dance/move around.  Awesome decor though.  Good vibe of people.  Enjoy checking out the hot go-go dancers haha. Bathrooms are co-ed, very clean, and doors close all the way to the ground (no gap). Music had hip hop/pop but a lot of trance/techno.  The bouncers were very strict on the guy/girl ratio.  Come early to avoid the cover charge ($20).

I've walked by this place so many times during the day....wow does it always smell pretty badly in the morning, and was dying to just have one experience here. $20.00 cover charge and NO drinks after 2:00a.m. Okay fine, I came here after 2:00a.m. but was not digging on that cover.  I must of had great karma that night because this nice random person paid for me without me asking :).  You rock whoever you were!! I met some crazy people while I was in line for the janky bathroom.  Some 3-some group that asked me to make it a 4-some...have people no shame these days or what??? The music (and I have this on video)..was the SAME beat the entire 2 hours.  Good thing I was in the mood to dance otherwise it would of seriously given me a headache. Okay, I am going to wrap this up....a place to continue to dance after everything closes, a place where weird sh*t happens, it's pretty well ventilated, music is whatever, bathroom was gross, crowd was a mix of random people.... Would I go back....probably not!

I question the sentiment that this is the "best jazz club in nyc". Sure, some damn good music comes through here, but I dont think blue note holds a candle to 55bar or detour (RIP) in it's prime. pro's: - Great performers come through here. - They have decent food and drink - You don't *need* a reservation, but it is highly recommended. - Very close to the subway (feet away from A/C/E, a block from 1/9/B/D/F/Q, walking distance from N/R) con's: - It gets as crowded as the NYC subway. Don't  go with a big group of friends, and only let your friends go if they are passionate about the music or artist. - Very expensive for what you get. They charge the 'music charge' *per set* which is about 60-75 minutes for the set. A top name can cost about $35 bucks, to see two sets will run you $70 bucks. 2 drinks per set brings you to about $100 bucks (this is per person...). I'd give it a higher rating if it were less expensive. I don't mind spending money, I just like getting my money's worth.
