i totally admit they did an UNBELIEVABLE...AMAZING JOB remodeling this place. you can't deny that boss was kind of gross (no offense to the owners) the music is so much better than before, the crowd is SOOO much better than before. no more "aZZZn boiZZ" trying to "holla" at you who are no taller than your shoulder. however, with the new crowd of people...comes the d-bag men...the last few times i've been there, there was always a group of guys in their SUITS. heLLLO this is a club. not your office. don't try to look all professional at a club...it just makes you look like a d-bag who's trying way too hard. "hey~..my name is __(insert d-bag name here)___. here's my business card~ (i make up for my lack of social skills with my fancy business card) call me. or better yet, why don't you call me right now so i'll have you number too" gross. but like i said...the music is so much better. the crowd is better than before. the decor is SOOOOO much nicer. i guess i can't complain much. good job manor west =)

http://www.sobs.com/ I've needed to get out of this house for a good minute, so when my friend told me KRS ONE was going to be performing at S.O.B.'s Sunday night, I thought "perfect." My friend goes to a lot of hip-hop shows. He has this big book that is filled with autographs. Anyway, he told me this is his favorite venue to see an artist, and after tonight I can see why. Doors opened at 8, show was to start at 9. I got there at 9:15 (coming from PA, plus I just seem to have a problem being on time most places) and DJ JS-1 (Rock Steady Crew) was cutting up some old-old school on the turntables (this cat is no joke.) Shortly thereafter he moved into the mid-80's and 90's, and I swear this cat played a joint from every album on the "best hip-hop album" thread from a week or so ago and then some. I started to wonder why I ever waste time in some of the bullshht clubs I've been to in Philly and Central Jersey (although I maintain my Jersey love)- this basement hip-hop shht is for what I truly have an affinity. Anyway, Channel Live came on about 10:30, followed by KRS, who gave an amazing show. I have so much respect and admiration for KRS ONE - he's one of the main reasons my infatuation turned into a true love for hip-hop back in '86. Also, Craig G, Sadat X and Busy B stopped by and did a li'l something. But Channel Live and KRS are what made this show. KRS free-styled half the show, now that's an emcee. Okay, back to the venue - why it's so awesome - because it's not a large venue - you can get right up to the stage if you want, easy, and interact with the artist. I was standing in the back (I can be a bit of an introvert) and It's still like KRS was in my living room. This place doesn't get crazy packed to where everyone is up on you either, plenty of breathing room. Perfect place to catch your favorite artist and have it feel like an intimate experience. Also, it's a mature crowd, I can appreciate that. There's also a full bar, the bartender seemed to have it pretty much under control. I only ordered a bottle of water. I can see I'm gonna be trekking here more often - if there's ever an artist I want to see and they're performing here - fuhgethaboudit, I'm there. Oh, and the show was $20/$25 at the door. Not bad for seeing one of the biggest legends in hip-hop... One last thing, this place is a restaurant as well. I saw a lot of people getting food while I was there, and last week I looked them up online and I have to say, their menu looked like eating there would be a more than pleasant experience - but I have no experience to back that up... yet...

This is a place where your either going to have a good time or a really bad night.  The decor is kool until they turn on the lights or if you go there during the day for tacos. It sure does need a once over with some fresh paint. Bottle Service: is about the same as with any other mainstream club in the city. And seeing how crowded it can get in there sometimes I have given in and got a table. Bouncers: yea they can be a pain at times but hey that what it takes to keep this place a bit more tasteful. I don't know about you but the whole Stunner shades, tall T's that look like moomoo's and over sized Girbaud jeans annoys me. For the most part i have had more good times than bad so ill give it a good rating.
