by Samantha S. on Love. The first time I stepped foot inside GAMH was for last year's Yann Tiersen concert. Awe. struck. The interior is absolutely GORGEOUS, and though I'm just as big a fan of hole-in-the-wall venues, there's something to be said for the beautiful decor and stage setup. Get there early and have your own little dance party on the floor (yes, really) because it's wide open and lovely. I've now watched shows from the floor AND from a table in the balcony section, and I can say that both are awesome. The sound is fantastic, and concerts here somehow still feel intimate even though there's plenty of audience space. The food is actually good, and though drinks are perhaps a little pricier than I would like, the experience is well worth it. Highly, highly recommend.
by George P. on went there with 2 friends of mine at midnight and the folks at the door asked us 20$ cover... we said kindly no and we were ready to leave when they said "it's ok, u can come in for free". and, guess what, the place was empty.. so if we had paid 60$ in total to enter that awful place I would really have regretted it. 1 star just for the fact that they wanted to cheaply take advantage of us.
by Daron Elvert on It's a sports bar. Something we've been sorely lacking in this part of town. I'd have given it four stars BUT when I went there with my Giants fan friends to watch the Giants/Philadelphia playoff game, there were Philly fans there who wore stupid pink Eagles gear* and sang the fucking fight song (NFL teams have fight songs? were you on college pep squad?). Someone needed to give them directions to The Shack. Totally annoying. Sorry, Busby's, for the loss of a star, but you should have stopped those clowns at the door. There's already one totally annoying Eagles bar in town, last thing we need is another one. *who the hell buys pink NFL gear? there is a special place in hell reserved for you, ladies. you are the reason that stupid NFL shop doesn't sell enough ladies clothes that come in actual team colors. I hate you.
