by Jerry P. on Small, great sound system, massive fog blasters, hypnotic trance music, and heavy pour cocktails that hit you right between the eyes if your not careful. Great club stop when in the Meatpacking District. For a totally different buzz, wander over to Hogs and Heifers and get up on the bar and dance.
by Oliver L. on Johnny Brenda's is my favorite bar venue in the whole Philadelphia/NYC Metro area. This place has great food and (local) beers, as well as restrooms you don't need to be afraid to (if the situation arises) poop in. The area isn't sketchy and parking is plentiful. R5 Productions often books their over 21 shows here, so JBs gets extra props for that. The venue area (upstairs) also has a great balcony (with bar). The venue is roughly the same capacity as the North Star Bar. JBs hosts artists and bands that could easily sell out much larger venues in NYC.

Honestly, I think the layout is pretty cool, but the owner should initiate a genocide against their clientel and just start over again. On the one hand, the under 21 people are annoying, but I have to pay respect to a place that even allows this. There are just too few options for fun if you're under 21 in this country. This is the only thing keeping my review from falling below two stars. One last thing about the clientel.... I am amazed by the morons who are over 21 and still go to Shampoo. Do they not realize that there are dozens of much cooler places in the city? If you're reading this review, you needn't worry. That's why you're on rateclubs right? As Biggie once said, "if you don't know, now you know." ps. Laurel M. -- you should use the bathroom at the Khyber before you draw conclusions about Shampoo's bathroom.
