Came here with a group last night and I was bored before I paid $15 cover. Starlight is a lounge area on the top floor of the Sir Francis Drake, a design which really needs to be remodeled. The place is a mixture of Peppermill that once was in Daly City and The Cafe which is a gay club in the Castro. Once one walks in there is a large bar on ones left and coat check and restrooms on the right. Walking in further is tables filled with people eating. So if your here for food, your going to have a bunch of people walking around you trying to squeeze into a tiny dance floor. And if you are hear to dance, your dancing to 80's music on a tiny little dance floor. Just the combination of a restaurant and dance floor in a dilapidated decor isn't that bad when your talking about a small room to begin with. But to charge people a $15 cover just to do so is outrageous.

first time i cam here on Halloween Opening Night 2 years ago, hatedddd it! came here again a few months ago on a Saturday Night, lovvvvved it. if it's still like that, i would highly reccomend it. good music and good drinks is all that matter (if you don't have your own table or a promoter, clubs SUCK.) the usual crowd, guys with $, girls who flirt with guys with $ so they don'thave to buy drinks, and the promoter with his entourage. if you like to dance, it is fun times. def fun times =) Music: 5 Crowd: 4.5 Atmosphere: 5+

Several years ago, I was fortunate enough to slide into the Blue Note on a night when they weren't filled to capacity to see Sam Newsome's Groove Project. There are few places where the acoustics are ideal for a Hammond B-3. Maybe it was the alcohol, but I couldn't get enough of that tonewheel organ's sounds ricocheting off the walls of the narrow venue. Here's to their reasonably priced drinks, at the very least! I will definitely be back ASAP.
