After hearing so much about this place, I finally had the opportunity to go here. For starters, you can park directly across the street for $5 or you can park elsewhere, like I did, for free. I don't know the towing policy so if you get towed don't Message me. When I first walked up to the entrance, I wasn't sure if I was at the right place or not. The outside looks like a place you can bring your car for tune-ups. The cover charge to enter is only $5, a very reasonable price. This is truly an underground type of place, you literally have to walk down a cave-like entrance. There are two rooms, the main room larger than the other. In fact, you can easily walk past the other room without realizing it. The main room has its typical bar, but what set it apart to me are the seating arrangements of this place. Along the walls, corners, and nooks, are cool little bench-type chairs to sit. There are plenty of little spots to get your groove on. The price for drinks is fair, but once that place gets packed you'll only want to be drinking water. While they only take cash, they do have ATM's available. From what I've heard, the restrooms were once disturbing, but they've renovated the bathrooms. The highlight of this place is definitely the music. On this particular night, two DJ's, Jah Prince and Rasta Roots, were on the turn tables. If I could, I would have tipped these guys and give them a standing applaud. They mainly played Hip-Hop, Dancehall, and Reggae. However, it wasn't the mainstream songs that are so played out. They played cuts that instantly transported me back to my teenage and early 20's. In the smaller room, they DJ played similar music as well. I was highly amused watching people Pop-Locking...to every damn genre of music. Never have I seen anyone Pop-Lock to Reggae, I suspect if they broke out some Beethoven they would have been doing the same. Yes, they allow people to smoke. As a non-smoker, it didn't bother me because they music was THAT good. I will definitely return, especially when these DJ's are there.

After reading some rateclubs reviews about this place, I had to give it a go plus it was 25% off the entire entre! My friend and I got there around 5:30, after getting lost for a good 15 min. I'm familiar with mid/downtown but i'm never the one driving so it was difficult to have to pay attention now that I was! Now if they had said they were across the street from Opera, none of this would have happened! We ordered the fried green tomatoes with the red pepper coulis and goat cheese, the she-crab soup and the crab cake to start off because I was starving! Our waitress was super nice and friendly - the irony was that she was on the phone giving me directions! hehe. The fried tomatoes were really crispy and light. I was surprise by how quickly it got to the table, excellent! The she-crab was really thick and creamy but I couldn't finish it - it was really good with the home-made biscuit though!! I think my favorite was the crab-cake. Normally you couldn't taste the crabs, just breadcrumbs but this one was really good with that sauce on the side. Our main entre was shrimps and scallop with grits and the Ribeye steak with frites - we actually got an insider there that said the Ribeye was the best on the menu... Now i've heard mad ravings on the fried chicken so I can't believe it until i come back to try that... But the ribeye steak was really juicy and tender - my friend loved it. The only problem was that they put the steak on top of the sweet potato fries and it made it soggy so my friend wasn't too happy about that. They had to get her some new fries. My shrimps and scallop grits were really good. I thought the grits were a bit undercook or maybe it's just the way it is because the texture were a bit too grainy. But the flavor of the sauce and the perfect cook of the shrimps and scallops were amazingly good. I have to say that walking up the stairs to use the restroom was a bit frightful in 3 inch heels. The squeaking made me nervous so I had to hold onto both rails for dear life going up and down... All in all it was good eats and that i would be coming back to try the fried chicken!

I am embarrassed to say I've been to this place more than 10 times in my life because my friends insist on partying here because of the big parking garage across the street. Thank God that lately, no one has dragged me there, but I'm forced to think semi-happy thoughts about the place because my sister used to cocktail there, but basically, it is an extension of the frat house bar, but with lots of lights and as per usual, really bad DJ. Great for when we were in college and suburbanites, I avoid it like crazy these days, but unfortunately, I walk past it almost every time I come out for a visit to the Bay Area, so I just had to say something.
