I have been wanting to go to Le Club since 1984 and never had the chance before it closed, after hearing about it re-opening I was very excited and went with my wife and another couple. Beautiful entry and bar area, however the website doesn't look like the restaurant at all, but the chairs are the same.  A little disappointed. The menu was Prix Fix due to the dine around town event ending June 15th 2009.  I have difinitley expected better food since San Francisco is a culinary capital of the world! The Lava cake didn't have any Lava running out and the steak was okay. I don't plan on returning.

The Great American Music Hall was once my favorite place to see a show in SF, it had no equal. It had everything, and was a beautiful building, Heck I even met Tom Waits out in front one time! ... BUT... I went to a show there recently and everything kinda changed...I got there early since I'm kinda a seat snob, I love being in the front row, and I'm willing to put the few hours of time waiting outside the door to earn it.  I was the second person who got there so I thought I was good. Then about a half hour before the door opened I saw a different line forming, and it seemed like an older more moneyed crowd, better dressed, a few dates, etc. This confused me, my ticket said "general admission" that means that the doors will open and everyone will get in at the same time to assume their table or standing area...so I inquired about this other line. Apparently it was a "Dinner Ticket" line. So I thought "ok they'll put those people off to the side or something", or at least I hoped they would. The way these "dinner ticket" things work is you get a meal with your ticket so instead of $30 to get in you pay something like $60 and your meal is taken care of... Weird, I thought, I had been here before and ordered food with no problems, it worked out to be the same price as the increased tickets.  Of course it was your standard sub-par bar food, some Trader Joe's pizza someone defrosted behind the bar. So I couldn't quite figure out why they had factored in a prepaid meal when you could just order it when you get in....about an hour later I found out...The "Dinner Ticket" line went in first to assume any table they wanted...basically people that got there hours after me and 100 other people we given choice of any table in the joint. Now it all made sense...the "Dinner Ticket" is just a way of reserving the better seats for people who just don't wanna wait in line (plus they get to force people into buying crappy food for good seats)...very sneaky Great American Music Hall, well not really it was really transparent. When the "ordinary people" line was finally let in of course all the good tables were gone and we were 4 rows of tables back from the stage, of course everyone around me was very frustrated.  I decided to just deal with it and enjoy the show but then another annoying series of events started to happen. 1. all the people in the front were people who weren't there for the music they were there for a "night out" or a "date" and were the talkative type, you know the people you wanna tell to shut up because you came to the show to here music not a re-cap of their day. 2.  the wait staff STARTED serving them during the concert, obstructing everyone in the "peasant" class's views This disturbed the performer who kept referring to smells of food and was obviously singing over the first few rows of table to the real fans, even he hated the dinner ticket thing, I really enjoyed that! In summation, if it's a standing room only show, you can do no better than the Great American Music Hall, but if it's seated...BEWARE of the Dinner Ticket!
