I really didn't want to like East Side Showroom, but instead, I LOVED it. The cocktails are fabulous. What that means is: go here, and order one of their cocktails, OFF THE MENU. They are delicious, and brilliant. I miss the old bar manager a bit (Violet Translation, I miss you)- but the new one is also great. What this does not mean is: go here and order the cocktail you always order, even if they don't want to sell it to you. They have what they have, and it's good, so you should try it. The place is fancy, a bit uncomfortable, and dreamlike. The staff is pretty and kind. The cheese is delicious. The breads and the chocolates are fantastic. Their menu is lovely and inclusive. Don't go in a hurry, sit and relax a little.

Carnival sucks. I came here when it first opened with some friends, and it had serious potential. There were magicians, tranny balloon artists, fire blowers, etc. NONE OF THIS EXISTS ANYMORE. Its like its a whole new bar! First off, the website says it opens WAY before it does. We got there at 7 so that we could reserve a couch area. The doorman told me that sometimes they open at 7, sometimes at 9 and that there was no rhyme or reason for either. He then told me NOT to go to the bowlmore bar and wait since it is way over priced. After going to another bar for 2 hours, we went back to carnival, since that is where we told our friends to meet us. To our surprise, they ADDED A $10 COVER!! (NOT WORTH IT). Then when we went inside and played a round of games, the attendees were extremely rude and told us we would never win, we must be rich (since we were going out in manhattan) and that we were yuppies. EXCUSE ME??? RUDE and UNTRUE. We then sat at a fun little spot and opened the drink menu. EVERYTHING WENT UP IN PRICE by at least 25%. NOT OK. Last time we were there, the drinks were reasonable, this time i could barely afford anything. I was actually embarrassed to have my friends there. The drinks have NO ALCOHOL and everyone that works here doesnt give a CRAP about anything. I could go on and on about how much this place sucks, but I think you get the point. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, OR ENERGY on this LAME ASS, totally played out place. PLEASE!

This club will go down in my personal history as the first club I got kicked out of...and hopefully the last... So I went here on a Thursday night for a collective asian american sorority club event so this review is a bit unique.  Got in pretty quickly after buying pre-sale tickets from a friend for $15.  As expected, mostly everyone here was asian american and in college, or in my case, recenty graduated.  Not sure if it's always 18+ but last night was 18+.  And I'm not sure if the bar was compensating for the 18-20  year olds but the mixed drinks/shots were all $12!!!  I guess that's just Hollywood for you. As far as parking goes, I parked 2 blocks away in this small parking structure on Cahuenga and Selma for only $10!  Valet, too!  Great steal =) The venue was pretty plain.  Not much decor, big dance floor, couches on the edges, bar was empty so it was easy to get drinks. And ummm, yeah...so I got kicked out...but I think it was unfair.  Granted, taking a shot of Surfer on Acid put me over the edge but I wasn't yacking, sleeping, OR falling over!  I just happened to stumble a bit and I guess the owner saw me and didn't like that.  I tried to convince him I was good but it didn't work out so I just ended up shaking his hand and saying thanks.  It's okay, I had a good talk with the bouncer outside.  Also, it was 1:15 am and I had work at 8:30 am in downtown la.  Surprisingly, I made it to work on time this morning and I feel good right now. Now the question is, would I go back here?  Probably not, it was fun because there was an event going on and it wasn't crowded.  Also, it was good to know that almost everyone there was in college or graduated.  That's just my preference.  Parking was good.  And I also made history here.
