by Leslee Flummer on Skip Young, the ladies, the food, and the whole venue is a delight. In fact, delight might even be an understatement. This restaurant/lounge is so much fun! Guys and girls, just letting you know, the ladies of Asia SF are gorgeous. It's almost mind blowing to see just how pretty they are. The shows are brief but oh so entertaining, and if it's your or your friend's birthday, make sure they get the birthday blow job! ;) Don't worry, it's not as R-rated as it sounds. For dinner, the six of us had for appetizers: Blackened tuna sashimi (Best thing ever!) Tamarind chicken satays (Decent.) Asia-dilla - A duck quesidilla - (Best thing ever!) Baby bok choy and shittakes (Decent.) and for entrees: Miso-glazed King Salmon (Best thing ever!) Orange lamb (Eh. Could do without - but I don't generally like lamb) Baby got back ribs (Best thing ever!) truffled soba noodles (Eh. Could do without - I was really full...) and then for dessert: Mini ice cream cones of taro, coconut, and mango ice cream Warm Banana Beignets with Chocolate and Caramel Dipping Sauces *The desserts won me over in the end, even with my insanely full stomach. Pros: The staff, the promptness of the food, the entertainment Minus: Parking is horrid.
by Ida C. on There was a time in my wayward youth (read 1 year ago) when this was my typical Tuesday schedule: Daytime - Work / gym / shower 9:00pm - Nap 1:30am - Hot rollers / makeup / sequins! 2:30am - AVENUE! 4:00am... And on those precious weeks when I feeling particularly adventurous, there would be some rinsing and repeating for Wednesday! I was still netting ~7 hours of sleep a night, and having a ton of fun! I'm not sure why we stopped, but maybe we'll reinstate it! Best seat in the house is upstairs. You get a fantastic view of the glamourous and often eclectic crowd (I'm talking to you girl with the 1 foot tall totem pole hairdo and hemp clothing who hangs out with the European royals) and plenty of room to get comfortable. There are two tables up there, and the small one (2 seater) is great for a late night date or a girl's night out while the other table is better for a group outing. It can probably seat 6, but I've seen 25 people dancing up there between the table top and the couches. Plenty of opportunities to go downstairs for a closer look if you spot someone intriguing...and you get to strut down the stairs...hello grand entrance! Be aware that Avenue is gonna cost you. Better break open the piggy bank for this one. Food isn't particularly good, so stick to drinks...or bottles, you whale! PARTING THOUGHT: Avenue doesn't get good on weeknights until about 2/2:30am, so time your pre-nap / pre-game / hot rollering accordingly
by Malia Moriwaki on The space is clean and convenient, and the service was hassle-free, but man, it's expensive! 3 games for 2 people came to $82 including shoe rental. The experience was fun and seamless, but coupled with the high cost, the overall feeling is kinda "meh."
