Woohoo! This is as good as it gets! I've been here a couple times now and each time, I've had a blast. The first was for my birthday and they were totally accommodating to my party of 10. Everyone on their staff is always totally game for some lighthearted flirting to men and women. The ladies here at AsiaSF are super sweet and they really put on a great show. It's equal parts mesmerizing and hilarious. The food is good, not great, but really decent. It's still delicious and the portions are pretty filling, although most of the time, you'll be too distracted by the performances to actually eat. The drink list had numerous libations named after the ladies of AsiaSF and they're pretty tasty. After dinner and the show, if you're feeling so inclined, you're invited to go dancing downstairs. How cool is that? You can get food, a show, and dancing all in one place! Be prepared to shell out anywhere from $75 to $125 if you like to have a couple drinks with your meal, are susceptible to peer pressure and shots of alcohol, and want to tip the ladies well for providing you with an unforgettable evening. Trust me, the experience is worth it.

Impromptu dinner with the hubs last night. After a nice (albeit crowded) skate around the rink at Penn, we decided to head to Pod. Johnny had never been and I hadn't been since the days of spending Sallie Maes money on things like expensive sushi and chanel makeup. We got there around 7 and were seated immeadiately. I understand that the Penn kids aren't back yet, but for a pretty hip restaurant on a Saturday night it was pretty swift service. The hostesses were fairly cold, but I'm pretty sure that they are trained to be that way. It is Starr after all, they all have their schichts. Our waiter was friendly and aside from the incredibly large diamond in his ear (which to me was really annoying) gave us good suggestions for drinks. I got the yellow martini, which was something like yuzu, passionfruit, and grapefruit. It was really sweet, but it had a great flavor (and it was good for cooling my mouth off after a huge bite of jalapeno seeds, more to come...) and hubs got the Samauri Jack which was honey, mint and raspberries I think. They even substituted J&B for the Jack Daniels that they usually serve! The hubs has a rather severe aversion to Jack Daniels for some reason, but loved the cocktail with J&B instead. To eat we splurged a little and got the MAKIMAKIMAKI which is comprised of 60 pieces of assorted maki. It has the yellowtail jalapeno, which was delicious aside from one piece that made my mouth burn so much that I had to down my entire martini to salvage my tastebuds. Also: crispy spicy tuna (yum!), eel & avo (yum), salmon & cream cheese (not my fave, but still good), some veggie rolls and a rainbow roll on top which was fab. Also, they have the most delicious soy sauce in the entire city. I just love it. I would say that all in all we had a really great time, but then again sometimes it depends on the company you keep as well. xo

I only go to Vanguard on Saturday nights for Giant events, which also depends on who is spinning. I am not a fan of the parking, but I can usually self-park by entering in the back and telling the parking attendant that I don't want to valet. If they tell me no, I simply tell them that I am going to park somewhere else. This will usually get them to budge. $10-15 for this. The interior of the club continues to improve with it's state of the art Funktion1 sound system and pleasant visuals. The DJ booth is great (though a couch up there would be nice), and the VIP layout is decent. The patio is one of the largest in LA, but always packed. More seating out there would be really nice. Overall, I have my gripes about this club, like any venue, but it remains one of my favorite clubs to frequent on a Saturday night!
