came here for happy hour to celebrate my last day of work w/my soon to be ex-coworkers.  the ambiance is very modern and music is fun.  if you sit at the lounge area, you can order from the happy hour food menu which features $1 items like sliders, fries, etc.  but we opted for a table since we had 9 people with us.  we tried the calamari, sliders, deviled eggs, fries, seasonal salad, oysters, fish tacos, chicken satay and tuna poke.  i didn't care for the tuna poke or deviled eggs very much.  the tuna poke needed more flavor and the deviled eggs were not like mom's.  i did enjoy the sliders and seasonal salad very much.  everything else was ok.  i heard the brunch is great, i will have to try it some day.

Anyone that notices my 36 inch waist heading to 38 territory (eek) and uncharted worlds beyond (hello Big and Tall shop) knows that diners and I go way back.  So it's a bit of a surprise that I've never been here before.  Drove by it hundreds of times but never had the inclination to stop in.  For some reason, it didn't look to appetizing to me from the curb.  But then I saw some cable food show that featured Silk City and it looked damn good.  So last night, before the DEVO show, we stopped in for a quick beer and bite.   Draughts were cold and hit the spot.  I enjoyed my Grilled Chicken sandwich although I should have ordered one of the many huge plates of fried food that went by us to other tables.  From awesome looking wings to meatloaf to fried chicken, the dishes were crying out for me to intercept them before heading to some nether region. But I was content with my choice, knowing that I would come back and challenge one of those plates of food.  Of course, the folks at the big and tall shop are just waiting on the other side of the threshold to welcome me into their world of elastic waistbands and triple-E wide shoes.  I'll smile and say, "I'm home."

I had dinner here at 6 in the evening with my 2 other colleagues. We ordered: *Peppered shrimp with pineapples (appetizer) - The shrimp tasted like it was cooked with hoisin sauce. You'll have to eat it with the pineapple cut into cubes--it tasted better that way. There were about 8 pieces in this dish. I'll give this dish a 3 out of 5 stars. *Vietnamese Egg Rolls (appetizer) - Per the waitress, the chef recommended us to wrap the butter lettuce over the small/tiny egg rolls and pour the fish sauce like over it. The sauce didn't taste like fish sauce--it was kinda sour. It didn't taste that great that way. You're better off eating the little egg rolls alone. This came in 5 small pieces. I will give this dish a 2 stars. *Chicken Simosas with yogurt (appetizer)- The chicken was a little dry. It was wrapped with the egg roll sheets in a triangular shape. Comes in 3 pieces. I am rating this dish 2.5 stars. *Red Curry Duck (entree)- This was a good dish served in a clay pot with a small bowl of rice.. It is spicy--warning for those who can't handle spice. I'm rating this dish 3.5 stars. *Green Curry Vegetable (entree) - The veggies in this dish were baby corns, broccoli, cauliflower, snap peas, not sure what the others were. No rice was served with this dish--it was soup based. It looked like the chef added green food coloring because the cauliflowers and baby corns were green. I will have to rate this dish 2 stars. *Short ribs with egg noodle soup (entree) - This dish was okay also. We didn't expect the dish to be what it was, we were expecting the dish to have "short" ribs. It was a chunk of meet that was slow cooked in some broth with star anus. I'm rating this dish 2.5 stars. *Miso soup with lemongrass (appetizer)- We also did not expect this dish to come out the way it did. "Miso soup, " you would expect it to be like the Japanese soup. It was more like sweet and sour soup--the chef cooked this in a lemon broth. IF you are not into sweet and "sour" soup--do not order this. The shrimp dumplings were good though. I'm rating this soup 1 star. *Papaya salad with fried squid (appetizer) - The discription of this dish said the squid was fried in a tempura batter. The squid was fried in a chicken-like batter instead--it was very crunchy but tasted good--reminded me of KFC. The papaya was served room tempurature--it should have been chilled in the fridge before serving. I'm going to have to give this 2 stars. *Ginger Fried Rice (entree) - This dish was also a surprise. We thought it would look like a traditional fried rice dish. It looked like plain steamed rice stirred with chopped green onions topped with sunny side up eggs that were sprinkled with LOTS of fried small ginger chunks.  This dish tasted bitter because there was too much ginger. Do not order this dish..I'm giving this dish a 1 star. All in all, the portion size is not for a large group. If you are craving for Thai-Vietnamese food, I wouldn't recommend you coming here. The menu is deceiving--some of the dishes will not be what you expected it to be. You are better off going to Jack In the Box. The restaurant did look nice--that was the best thing about this restaurant.
